Summary: The Accommodation Specialist serves as the primary contact for employees requesting job accommodations due to qualifying disabilities that may affect their ability to perform essential job functions. The role involves assessing accommodation requests, providing guidance to employees, and ensuring a smooth, frustration-free experience. The specialist will develop accommodation suggestions, collaborate with employers, and offer problem-solving support. Exceptional communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong analytical thinking are essential in this customer-service-focused role.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
70% Accommodation Processing & Customer Support:
Respond to new accommodation requests within required time frames.
Assess employee eligibility for services under the ADAAA.
Evaluate the feasibility of return-to-work accommodations.
Provide employers with information on ADA services, processes, and timelines.
Create and maintain accurate, compliant case records in the company’s case management system.
Track all accommodation requests.
5% Interdisciplinary Team Participation:
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support customers in decisions related to employee separation or leave accommodations.
15% Collaboration & Escalation:
Collaborate with medical, return-to-work, legal, and absence management teams as necessary.
Escalate moderate and complex accommodation cases.
Maintain proficiency in using relevant company information systems.
10% Other Duties:
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Job Specifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in human resources, leave management, or benefits management.
Experience:
2-4 years of progressive experience in disability accommodation, absence management, return-to-work services, claims administration, or related fields.
Working knowledge of federal and state disability laws (ADA, FMLA).
Case management experience applying ADAAA/Accommodation services using a case management system is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to resolve customer service issues with a passion for delivering positive customer experiences.
Professional Certifications (Preferred):
PHR (Professional in Human Resources), CPDM (Certified Professional in Disability Management), or ADA certification.
Special Skills:
Familiarity with state and local regulations affecting employee access to accommodations.
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Administer invoices, vendor payments, and stay at work claim setup for the Workplace Possibilities organization
