Job Title – Support Engineer I Location – Kirkland, WA (Onsite) (Overtime- 5-10 hours a week) Duration – 6+ Months
Job Description: The Phased Array Test Engineering Tech will work closely with cross-functional engineering, test, quality and operations teams on both first-article hardware development and production hardware integration processes. This role mainly focuses on testing Kuiper Phased Array Antennas in a production environment. This position requires skill and experience in a variety of areas, including mechanical assembly, avionics integration, electrical checkouts and environmental testing. In short, you will be responsible for a majority of the most critical tasks to build the Kuiper satellite, ensuring high quality, workmanship and safety standards are adhered to on a daily basis.
Key job responsibilities:
Functional testing, repair and troubleshooting of Kuiper phased array antenna PCBA's and electro-mechanical assemblies during environmental testing
Use electronic test and measurement equipment – mustimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, microscopes, programming tools
Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation, including PCBA schematics and layouts
Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
Use computer software programs for controlling tests
Check and inspect your work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements
Collaborate with manufacturing and test engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities
Collaborate with design engineers to document failure modes, troubleshooting steps, failure reproduction steps
Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe and effective work environment
2+ years of experience in electrical hardware assembly, test, and/or installation
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in the aerospace industry, automotive industry, medical device industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment
Experience in a fast-paced production environment
Experience programming and/or reading code, specifically Python and Powershell
Experience with schematic capture and layout software
Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements
Experience with Linux environments
Experience with manually testing PCBAs
A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures
Some basic knowledge of electrical, optical and mechanical systems, antennas, functional testing and/or satellite components
Ability to use multiple types of precision measuring instruments
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
Required Skills:
Someone from aerospace manufacturing background.
