Title: Site Reliability Engineer

Note:

• SRE (9 months) – Azure/Terraform/GitHub/ArgoCD
• Our client is hiring a Contract SRE to design, automate, and operate Azure workloads with Terraform and GitOps via ArgoCD and Nomad.
• Successful candidate will own reliability (SLIs/SLOs), observability (Azure Monitor/Prometheus/Grafana), and secure operations across Azure environments.
• Experience managing Azure MySQL and Azure SQL Server is essential.

Role Overview
We’re looking for an experienced SRE to harden and operate our Azure workloads, automate infrastructure with Terraform, streamline deployments via ArgoCD or Nomad, and ensure our environments meet rigorous security and compliance standards. You will work hands-on across infrastructure, CI/CD, and observability,  with a focus on reliability, performance, and cost-effective operations.

Key Outcomes (first 90 days)

• IaC baselined: Terraform modules standardized for core Azure resources (AKS/compute, networking, storage, Key Vault, databases).
• Deployment flow repeatable: ArgoCD applications and GitHub workflows defined with clear promotion paths and automated guardrails.
• Reliability metrics live: SLIs/SLOs for critical services published; dashboards and alerts tuned to actionable thresholds.
• Security posture improved: Secrets management via Key Vault, role-based access in Azure AD/RBAC, and hardened network controls.
• Operational runbooks: Documented procedures for incident response, backup/restore, and DR scenarios for MySQL and SQL Server.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design & operate Azure infrastructure using Terraform and Git-based workflows.
• Manage GitOps deployments with ArgoCD integrating with GitHub for change management.
• Provision & maintain databases: Azure MySQL and Azure SQL Server.
• Observability & reliability: Define SLIs/SLOs, implement telemetry, and run capacity/performance tunings.
• Security & compliance: Enforce best practices for identity, access, network segmentation, secrets, and configuration hardening.
• Automation & tooling: Improve pipelines and repeatable runbooks to reduce toil.
• Documentation: Maintain high-quality runbooks and architecture diagrams.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years in SRE/Platform/DevOps roles operating production systems.
• Azure expertise: AKS, ACR, VNets/NSGs, Private Link, Load Balancers, Managed Identities, Key Vault, Azure Monitor.
• Terraform (IaC): Authoring reusable modules, remote state, workspaces.
• GitHub: Branching strategies, PR reviews, GitHub Actions.
• ArgoCD (GitOps): App-of-Apps patterns, sync waves, Helm/Kustomize integration.
• Databases: Provisioning/operating MySQL and SQL Server in Azure.
• Security-first mindset: Practical experience with Azure AD/RBAC, network security, secrets management.
• Collaboration: Comfortable working across on-prem and cloud teams.

Nice-to-Have

• Container security and supply-chain hygiene.
• Knowledge of Service Mesh (Istio/Linkerd).
• Exposure to compliance frameworks (PCI DSS).
• Cost optimization and FinOps practices in Azure.
