Title: IT Project Manager IV
Duration: 12 months
Location: Edmonton, AB T5J 0H3 or Calgary, AB T2P 3L8 (Hybrid: Mon, Tue, Thu in office)
Primary Focus:
Primary accountability is to manage a portfolio of complex IT and OT (Operational Technology) projects valued at up to $10MM. These projects primarily focus on maintaining and enhancing systems that support Gas Transmission and Midstream operations. The role facilitates the development of technical solutions with key stakeholders and ensures best-practice change management is followed when systems are modified, deployed, or integrated. The role requires a strong technical understanding of OT, business applications, and infrastructure, and related cybersecurity.

Specific Accountabilities:
- Provide full-time project management for a portfolio of projects valued at up to $10MM.
- Manage all PMBOK knowledge areas and process groups to maximize stakeholder value while controlling cost, scope, and schedule.
- Deliver projects in accordance with corporate standards using waterfall and/or agile methods, as appropriate.
- Ensure PMO processes are followed, and the required PMO documentation is completed.
- Develop clear project mandates and supporting documentation, including schedules, budgets, and ongoing performance analysis.
- Develop and implement change management processes, procedures, and tools to support seamless deployments and prevent disruption to critical systems.
- Develop business case budget estimates for new projects and operational initiatives.
- Apply project and organizational knowledge, leadership, and facilitation to enable effective execution of project activities.
- Continuously evaluate internal processes to ensure efficient, priority-based delivery; identify and recommend improvements as required.
- Prepare project status reports and presentations for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Drive resolution of project issues and risks; escalate as appropriate.
- Review and approve project deliverables.
- Provide timely and accurate status reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Improve project delivery efficiency by:
- Collaborating with supervisors, managers, directors, other project managers, and stakeholders
- Conducting root-cause analysis of project variances and issues
- Analyzing metrics to identify gaps/deficiencies and opportunities for efficiency gains
- Provide governance and enforce project processes and standards, including:
- Schedules, reporting, and project financials
- Quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), and compliance requirements
Working Conditions:
- Office environment with rare travel requirements.
- Fast-paced work environment, requiring balancing the constraints of multiple simultaneous projects with hard deadlines and the needs of a significant number of stakeholders with sudden priority changes.
- Be available for off-hours contact to provide support for planned project changes and management of critical issues.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- An undergraduate degree in Engineering or Computer Science from a recognized post-secondary institution
- An equivalent combination of education and experience, such as Technologist or similar accreditation may be accepted.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
- Demonstrated strong understanding of IT, OT, Data Centres, Application Development, Network Infrastructure, Control Systems, best practices, standards, as well as control and operating procedures.
- Proven ability to balance priorities, constraints, and objectives of multiple simultaneous projects.
- 10+ years of progressive project management experience, depending on technical education, accreditations, and competency development.
- Demonstrated technical competence.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Well-developed problem-solving, decision-making, organization, planning, and leadership skills.
- A collaborative, team, and service-oriented work style.
- Motivated self-starter that works well independently and in fast-paced team environments.
- Committed to continuous technical learning and personal development.
- Ability to travel and manage projects throughout Canada and the United States.
