The successful candidate will bring strong core Java skills, solid computer science fundamentals, and practical experience designing concurrent, scalable, and testable systems.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java components for low-latency trading systems, market data flows, electronic trade processing, and platform integration
Build production-grade software using strong core Java, object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, concurrency patterns, and clean API design
Analyze performance bottlenecks, optimize latency-sensitive code paths, and improve system throughput, resilience, and observability
Create thorough automated tests, including unit, integration, regression, and edge-case scenarios, to ensure correctness and reliability in a trading environment
Work with architects, business analysts, operations, QA, and peer development teams to translate business requirements into practical technical designs and deliverable solutions
Support production issues by independently diagnosing failures, performing root-cause analysis, proposing corrective actions, and improving system stability
Contribute to code reviews, technical design discussions, engineering standards, and mentoring of junior developers
Take ownership of complex development tasks with minimal guidance, from problem analysis through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support
Requirements
BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical software engineering experience
7+ years of hands-on professional Java development experience, with demonstrated ability to write clean, efficient, testable, and maintainable code
Strong core Java knowledge, including collections, generics, streams, exception handling, memory management, garbage collection concepts, and modern Java language features
Strong understanding of multi-threaded programming, concurrency primitives, synchronization, thread safety, lock contention, and practical concurrent system design
Solid computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis, object-oriented design, and problem decomposition
Experience building latency-sensitive, high-throughput, resilient systems where reliability, observability, and operational support are important
Strong testing discipline, including experience with automated testing frameworks, mocking, integration testing, and designing code for testability
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to reason through ambiguous requirements and produce practical technical solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical ideas clearly to both engineering and business stakeholders
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across development, QA, operations, architecture, and business teams
