Senior Mechanical Project Manager
Direct Hire/Permanent
Location: Grand Prairie, TX (100% onsite)
 
Description:
  • This role provides overall management direction for a project or group of projects.
  • Responsibilities include procuring equipment and subcontracts, monitoring and accurately projecting job costs, maintaining billing and schedules, and providing technical support and leadership to the field.
  • Additional responsibilities include overseeing daily project activities with the Superintendent.
  • The Project Manager will also develop and maintain long-term customer relationships to foster better communication and future work opportunities.
 
Responsibilities:
  • The individual is ultimately responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Reviews project estimates and verifies the accuracy of entries into the job cost system, as well as the accuracy of the initial estimate.
  • Conducts pre-job and ongoing planning meetings to ensure all project team members understand contract terms, conditions, clauses, schedules, and any unusual project requirements.
  • Documents planning meeting results and ensures all action items are completed.
  • Develops and maintains up-to-date project schedules.
  • Monitors personnel scheduling to ensure alignment with project timelines.
  • Establishes and executes subcontract and equipment buyouts to support schedules and funding.
  • Visits job sites or onsite offices daily to perform work inspections, check job progress, and resolve project and contract issues.
  • Investigates potentially serious job issues and implements corrective measures.
  • Tracks scope changes to ensure timely processing and incorporation into the current scope of work.
  • Provides material takeoff, estimates, and pricing for changes in the work scope.
  • Conducts and attends job meetings per customer and company guidelines and schedules.
 Must-Have Qualifications:
  • Experience negotiating construction change orders and delivering project presentations.
  • Ability to solve complex, multi-faceted problems using various problem-solving techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with polished presentation abilities.
  • Ability to interpret contractual documents, plans, specifications, schematic diagrams, and isometric drawings.
  • Proficiency in both technical and business letter writing.
  • Experience with computerized job cost accounting systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate-level Excel skills (minimum requirement).
  • Understanding of financial models used in fixed-price, cost-plus, and unit rate/price contracting.
  • Ability to work in job trailers, onsite offices, and active construction sites, including navigating uneven surfaces, floor openings, heights, installation debris, and low-light areas.
  • Availability for on-call support as needed to assist with 24/7 operations, which may include evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Ability to visit job sites daily to monitor progress, inspect work, and conduct meetings to resolve issues.
