Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist IV

Job Duration: 3+ Months
Job Location: 1700 Medical Center Parkway, Murfreesboro, TN 37129
Shift: 3rd Shift | 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Vaccine Requirements: Hepatitis B, Flu, Color Vision Test


Summary:

The Medical Lab Scientist IV performs complex and routine laboratory testing to support accurate and timely diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This position requires strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently within a high-volume clinical laboratory environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures per departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.

  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving in real-time.

  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls as required.

  • Report accurate and timely test results to ensure high-quality patient care.

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.

  • Identify, order, and replenish testing bench supplies as needed.

  • Assist with specimen processing when required.

  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all PPE and safety standards.


Core Focus Areas:

  1. Core Lab Operations

  2. Generalist Experience (COAG, Hematology, Urinalysis, etc.)

  3. ASCP or AMT Certification


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field (meeting CLIA & state requirements).

  • Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.

  • Certification: ASCP or AMT certification (required or preferred based on site).

  • Licensure: State Medical Technologist license (if applicable).

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and computer applications.

    • Strong understanding of laboratory instrumentation and quality control.

  • Soft Skills:

    • High attention to detail and organizational ability.

    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.

  • Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as business needs require.
