Location: Nashville, TN 37236
Duration: 4 Months Contract
Schedule: Full-Time | 3rd Shift | Sunday – Thursday | 8:00 PM – 4:30 AM
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Histotechnologist III for a 4-month contract opportunity in Nashville, TN. This role is ideal for a highly skilled histotechnologist with extensive experience in embedding, microtomy, and handling small tissue specimens and biopsies. The selected candidate will support a high-volume pathology laboratory and play a critical role in delivering high-quality histology services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform tissue embedding and microtomy on a high volume of surgical specimens.
- Prepare high-quality tissue sections for microscopic examination.
- Handle small tissue specimens and biopsies with precision and accuracy.
- Maintain quality standards throughout the histology process.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot histology laboratory equipment.
- Ensure proper specimen identification and documentation.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures, quality control standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of specimens.
- Maintain an organized and efficient work environment while meeting productivity goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related scientific field.
- 5+ years of recent histology experience, including:
- Tissue Embedding
- Microtomy
- Processing small tissues and biopsies
- Ability to embed approximately 35 blocks per hour.
- Ability to cut approximately 35 blocks/slides per hour.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASCP Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) Certification preferred.
- Previous experience in a high-volume clinical or hospital pathology laboratory.
