Job Title: Principal Software Engineer
Duration of project: 6+ months
Location: 100% Remote
Description:
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on driving innovation and early-stage development of AI-driven clinical products. The role requires end-to-end ownership of AI solutions, from data sourcing and engineering through model integration and production deployment. You will actively explore, evaluate, and implement emerging AI technologies to accelerate clinical product development while building deep product and system knowledge. The role emphasizes coding, practical problem-solving, and applying technical best practices at scale.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on driving innovation and early-stage development of AI-driven clinical products. The role requires end-to-end ownership of AI solutions, from data sourcing and engineering through model integration and production deployment. You will actively explore, evaluate, and implement emerging AI technologies to accelerate clinical product development while building deep product and system knowledge. The role emphasizes coding, practical problem-solving, and applying technical best practices at scale.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a strong background in distributed systems and enterprise platforms.
- Proven experience building AI products end-to-end, including real-world production deployments (not limited to architecture design or API consumption).
- Strong Python expertise as the primary language for AI and data engineering; Java experience is helpful but secondary.
- Deep data engineering expertise, including building scalable, governed data pipelines.
- Strong understanding of how data is sourced, transformed, validated, governed, and scaled for AI use.
- Ability to identify and resolve data quality gaps prior to applying AI models.
- Experience integrating large language models (LLMs) such as Gemini, Anthropic (Claude), or ChatGPT.
- Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph.
- Experience with modeling, evaluation, and AI workflows, with a clear understanding that effective AI depends on clean and validated data.
- Advanced proficiency in Python (critical for this role).
- Experience with Java and Spring Boot, with familiarity in Spring AI.
- Strong experience designing and consuming REST APIs (6+ years).
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture.
- Cloud & Platform Experience
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong experience with BigQuery.
- Experience with GKE, Cloud Run, and Cloud Functions.
- Experience with messaging systems such as Pub/Sub or RabbitMQ.
- Familiarity with API management tools such as Apigee.
- Experience working in teams that leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot).
- Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures.
- Experience working with healthcare data standards such as FHIR or HL7.
- Experience building AI solutions in secure, governed, and regulated environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
