Job Title: Test Engineer II
Location: Portland, OR (In-office 4 days a week, WFH 1 day a week)
Duration: 18 Months
This role is for a Test Engineer on the redundant autonomous steering system engineering development team of the autonomous Cascadia truck. The main function of a Test Engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of electromechanical systems. A typical Test Engineer has the ability to interpret specifications and develop/execute appropriate testing methods, ensuring the specifications have been implemented as intended.

Job Responsibilities:
- Research, design, develop, manufacture, and utilize testing tools including Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) test benches and simulations to validate electromechanical system designs.
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to ensure internal requirements meet all customer requirements.
- Develop and execute test cases that fully cover internal requirements, as well as develop test cases that require out-of-the-box thinking to fully validate developing products.
- Investigate component and system failures and make recommendations to design engineers.
- Develop and execute in-vehicle testing tools and test cases.
- Thoroughly document and report test case results using internal reporting tools.
Skills:
- Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability.
- Team player and detail oriented.
- Familiarity with CAN-FD networks, as well as cybersecurity features, such as Secure Onboard Communications (SecOC)
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawing, and schematics.
- Previous experience with computer applications and software related to the engineering field, such as Vector's tool suite (CANoe, CANape and CANalyzer), coding languages (Python, MATLAB and CAPL) and engineering lifecycle management tools (IBM's Engineering Requirements Management DOORS Next (ELM)).
- Someone comfortable with ambiguity and is able to be self sufficient in this role will be successful
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
- 2-4 years experience required.
- Automotive engineering experience is a plus.
- Vector's tool suite (CANoe, CANape and CANalyzer),- Nice to have but not required
Skills:
- Familiarity with Data acquisition tools (CAN) Vector would be preferred
- Proficient Coding examples - (Python, MATLAB and CAPL)
