Role: Data Center Technician II Location: Umatilla, OR 97882 Duration: 6 Months With possibility of extension or conversion Shift Timings: Day: 6 AM–4 PM or 7:30 AM–6 PM Night: 6 PM–4:30 AM or 7:30 PM–6 AM
Job Summary As a Data Center Technician II, you will provide hands-on technical support for servers and data center hardware. You will troubleshoot hardware and networking issues, replace failed components, work with Linux systems, and manage work through ticketing systems. This is a hands-on data center role, not a remote/phone-based troubleshooting position.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve server and hardware infrastructure issues.
Perform hands-on hardware replacements, repairs, and component-level troubleshooting.
Work with server hardware, storage devices, networking equipment, and related components.
Troubleshoot TCP/IP and intermediate networking issues.
Use Linux/Unix command-line tools for basic to intermediate system administration and troubleshooting.
Manage work, priorities, and incidents through ticketing systems.
Document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and technical activities.
Work collaboratively with other data center technicians and support teams.
Take direction, follow established procedures, and respond positively to feedback.
Train and share technical knowledge with newer team members.
Support responsibilities that may span multiple locations within the region.
Must-Have Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of hands-on server hardware experience — hard requirement.
2+ years of Linux operating systems experience.
2+ years of networking/TCP-IP knowledge.
Hands-on experience replacing and repairing hardware.
Strong understanding of server hardware components and their functions.
Understanding of storage devices.
Experience working with ticketing systems and technical documentation.
Ability to perform intermediate network troubleshooting.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work onsite and adapt to day or night shifts.
Preferred / Additional Qualifications
2+ years of data center experience.
CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or similar certification.
Certified Network Defender (CND).
Associate's degree in IT or related field.
Professional or military technical experience.
Understanding of cooling systems and power distribution.
Experience training or mentoring junior technicians.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
Must pass daily metal detection/security screening.
Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
Exposure to dust, airborne particles, and other environmental allergens.
Must follow all required data center security and safety protocols.
Note: Contingent workers are expected to work holidays if scheduled (regular pay, not holiday pay)
