Job Title: Lead GIS Integration Engineer
Location: Remote (Occasional travel (up to 20%))

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead GIS Integration Engineer to lead the design, integration, and migration efforts for a Next-Generation GIS Program. This role will focus on integrating legacy Smallworld GIS and ESRI ArcGIS platforms with an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) while building scalable, event-driven data pipelines in an AWS cloud environment. The ideal candidate will combine deep GIS expertise with strong cloud, data integration, Python development, and technical leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities
- GIS Integration & Architecture
- Lead the design and implementation of integrations between Smallworld GIS, ESRI ArcGIS, and ADMS platforms.
- Define integration standards, API design patterns, and data contracts.
- Design real-time, event-driven data pipelines using Apache Kafka.
- Resolve data model conflicts, schema mismatches, and business rule reconciliation between systems.
- Data Migration
- Lead end-to-end GIS data migration using FME Desktop and FME Server.
- Develop migration workflows, automation, validation processes, and rollback procedures.
- Establish data lineage, audit logging, and migration metrics.
- Partner with GIS analysts and business stakeholders to validate migrated spatial data.
- Cloud & DevOps
- Design and maintain AWS infrastructure supporting GIS workloads, including:
- EC2
- S3
- RDS/Aurora
- Lambda
- ECS/EKS
- API Gateway
- Develop CI/CD pipelines using Git-based platforms.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated testing.
- Monitor production pipelines and support incident response.
- Python Development
- Develop Python-based ETL pipelines and spatial processing solutions.
- Build integration services and REST/SOAP API clients for GIS and ADMS platforms.
- Create reusable libraries and automation tools.
- Technical Leadership
- Serve as the technical lead for the GIS integration workstream.
- Mentor engineers and conduct code reviews.
- Lead technical workshops and define integration requirements.
- Produce architecture documentation, integration specifications, operational guides, and runbooks.
- Coordinate with ADMS vendors, enterprise architecture teams, and utility operations.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in GIS Engineering, Systems Integration, or Spatial Data Management.
- 3+ years of experience in a Technical Lead or Senior Engineer role.
- Proven experience delivering GIS-to-ADMS or similar OT/IT integration projects within the utilities industry.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Smallworld CASE Tools, RCM, or UPDM Network Modeling.
- Knowledge of CIM (IEC 61968/61970) standards.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (or equivalent).
- SAFe Scrum Master, PMP, or similar certification.
- Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Exposure to QGIS, GeoServer, or open-source GIS technologies.
- Utility industry experience supporting electric, gas, or water networks.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Master's degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
