Summary
The primary function of a Chemical Technician is to conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in performing qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials. Chemical Technicians typically work either as research technicians in experimental laboratory environments or as process control technicians in manufacturing settings. Research Technicians support research and development activities by collecting samples and producing compounds, while Process Control Technicians focus on quality assurance and production processes.

Job Responsibilities
- Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with established standards and specifications.
- Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses using techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, physical and chemical separation methods, and microscopy.
- Perform chemical and physical laboratory tests to support qualitative and quantitative analysis of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret test and experimental results.
- Provide technical support and assistance to chemists and engineers.
- Prepare chemical solutions for products and processes using standardized formulas or develop experimental formulations.
- Maintain, clean, and sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Document experimental findings by writing technical reports and preparing graphs and charts.
- Order, track, and manage laboratory materials and supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team player with strong attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances, as well as chemical processes and transformations.
- Fundamental understanding of chemical manufacturing processes, including environmental impact and worker and consumer safety considerations.
