Job Title: Float Phlebotomist II
Duration: 3+ months
Location: 1949 Tate Blvd SE Hickory, NC 28602
(This will be a float position. HM said the candidate can travel from 30 minutes away to 2 hours)
Shift Hours: 6am–6pm (will only work 8-hour shifts, but may need to travel)
Interview Mode: Video Conference
Vaccine Requirements: Hepatitis B, TB, MMR, T-DAP, Varicella
Color vision is also required for this role.
Summary
The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities

Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.

Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.

Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and/or other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.

Demonstrates technique(s) using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Fully understands all of the physicians' orders.

Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required by test order.

Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% accuracy.

Packages specimens for transport.

Stores specimen samples according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately labels, and follows different procedures as outlined by protocol to maintain specimen integrity during transport.

Understands and complies with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Attends annual department trainings.

Answers telephone calls and reads laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed (as required in some states).

Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

High School Diploma or GED.

2–4 years of experience.
