Job Description

Title: Senior Product Designer / UX Designer IV
Duration: 6 months (Possible extension)
Location: Toronto, ON (3 days onsite- will be moving to 4 days per week onsite)


Team Size/Culture: 10 people 
Opportunity for long term contract. Working on an important project for the Bank.

Degree/Level of Education: A degree in design or a design-related discipline
Certifications Required: no 
Years of Overall Experience: 5 plus years  
How will performance be measured: overall feedback on performance
Preferred/Ideal Candidate Background:   Senior product designer experience 


SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

Senior Product Designer
Skills and experience -
• Senior level (minimum 5 years UX and UI experience) with strong expertise in building Design Systems and Figma to support the clients Wealth Easy Trade platform
• Previous experience building a design system and components (leading/owning and identifying needs, being proactive, identifying risks and mitigating, collaborating closely with developers in that work, etc.)
• Detailed oriented, expertise designing interaction and visual UI states for native mobile iOS and Android components
• Personal experience or interest in self-directed investing is a plus but not required

Responsibilities

• Design and create reusable components in Figma that can be used across the platform.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure designs are technically feasible and align with the platform's needs and standards.
• Perform Design QA on final product implementations to ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Write and maintain clear, concise documentation to guide other designers in using the designs system components effectively.
• Publish and update design libraries in Figma to ensure that components are readily accessible for all team members.
• Ensure that all new components meet WCAG standards for accessibility, promoting inclusivity and usability across the platform. Adhere to Accessibility and compliance at the device level (e.g. updating or components to work with Apple's new Liquid Glass)

Must Have:

• A degree in design or a design-related discipline – user-centred design, visual design, graphic design, product design, etc. (or equivalent work experience)
• 5+ years of experience designing interactive experiences (or equivalent work experience)
• Comprehensive understanding of interaction and UI design
• Passion for creating simple and stunning visual design solutions
• Ability to translate conceptual ideas into compelling customer experiences
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Good fundamental understanding in Responsive Web design and Mobile Application design (Android and iOS)
• Ability to ask good questions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to communicate ideas to a diverse audience and constructively integrate feedback
• A conceptual thinker with proven problem-solving skills
• Ability to see the "big picture" and hone-in on the details
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate well in a team environment
• Proficiency with design tools with Adobe's Creative Suite
• Strong portfolio that showcases your understanding of user-centred design
• Fundamental understanding of design principles and branding
• Proficiency with Adobe's Creative Suite (including After Effect to create animation, Adobe Illustrator to develop custom illustration (2D and 3D) and In Design for page layout) as well as industry leading interface design tool such as Figma

Nice to have:
• General understanding in Agile Methodologies or experience working in an agile process
• Skillsets to create high fidelity prototypes, user flow diagrams, and storyboards
• General understanding of HTML/CSS (able to produce web-ready assets and designs)
