Job Description
Job Title: AI / Cloud IAM Specialist
Location: Toronto, ON (Open to remote too)
Duration: 6-month contract
Start Date: Mid-July
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced AI / Cloud IAM Specialist to support a high-impact contract role focused on cloud governance, identity and access management, and AI-related security/governance initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of Cloud, Identity, and AI, and requires hands-on expertise across all three areas.
The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening the organization’s security posture across cloud environments, establishing governance guardrails and IAM controls, and contributing to foundational AI initiatives and AI strategy execution. This is not a pure cloud IAM role. Candidates must bring a strong cloud background, practical IAM/identity governance experience, and meaningful experience supporting or working with AI technologies, AI programs, or AI-driven security/governance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support cloud governance, cloud management, and cloud security initiatives across enterprise environments
- Establish and maintain cloud guardrails, governance standards, policies, and controls
- Assess, implement, and optimize Identity and Access Management (IAM) controls across cloud platforms
- Design and implement RBAC, least-privilege access models, and identity governance practices
- Support and advise on identity-related governance within AWS, Azure, and Microsoft Entra ID environments
- Conduct IAM and cloud security reviews to identify gaps, vulnerabilities, and remediation opportunities
- Partner with security, cloud, infrastructure, and engineering teams to implement secure access management practices
- Develop and maintain documentation related to IAM architecture, cloud security controls, governance processes, and AI-related security practices
- Contribute to AI-focused initiatives, including AI governance, AI security, AI platform support, or cloud enablement for AI use cases
- Work closely with teams involved in defining and implementing the organization’s AI roadmap and research initiatives
- Support automation and continuous monitoring of IAM configurations, access controls, and cloud security posture using scripting and security tooling where applicable
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in IT / cybersecurity / cloud security, including strong hands-on work in cloud governance, IAM, and AI-related initiatives
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS and Microsoft Azure
- Strong understanding of cloud governance, cloud security, and cloud management practices
- Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM), including identity governance, role-based access control, least privilege, access reviews, and cloud identity/security controls
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD, Azure RBAC, and cloud-based identity management practices
- Required experience working with AI initiatives, AI technologies, AI security, AI governance, or AI-enabled cloud/security programs
- Ability to operate in a role that spans Cloud + Identity + AI, rather than specializing in only one of those areas
- Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages for automation and operational support
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across security, cloud, infrastructure, and AI-focused teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GCP IAM or broader multi-cloud IAM/security environments
- Experience with AI governance, AI risk, AI security assessments, or secure enablement of AI platforms/use cases
- Familiarity with modern authentication protocols such as OAuth 2.0, SAML, and OIDC
- Experience with PAM / identity governance tools such as CyberArk, SailPoint, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Experience with cloud security posture management, SIEM/security monitoring, or automated remediation of IAM/security issues
- Understanding of compliance/security frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer, CISSP, CCSP, or similar
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Strong experience in cloud governance and cloud security, especially in AWS and Azure
- Solid hands-on experience in IAM, identity governance, and cloud access/security controls
- Practical experience supporting AI initiatives, AI governance, AI security, or AI-related cloud programs
- The ability to work across Cloud, Identity, and AI in a blended role rather than a single-domain specialist capacity
- Comfort operating in an evolving environment where cloud governance and AI strategy are closely connected
Key Must-Haves
- Cloud: Strong experience with cloud governance, cloud management, and security in AWS and Azure
- Identity: Hands-on IAM / identity governance experience, including Entra ID / Azure AD, RBAC, least privilege, and cloud access controls
- AI: Required experience supporting AI initiatives, AI technologies, AI governance, AI security, or AI-enabled enterprise programs
