Job Description

Position Title: Quality Control Associate 
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA, 91320 (100% onsite)
Duration: 1 year with possible extension of up to 3 years
Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Flexibility required for possible future weekend shift)

 
Overview:
This is a unique opportunity to join the Quality Control team at the Thousand Oaks site and provide direct support to both manufacturing and QC operations. The selected candidate will support microbiology testing operations and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization’s network.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute environmental monitoring sample analysis and enter results accurately into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and/or SmartLab (LMES).
  • Strictly adhere to safety guidelines from EHSS, cGMPs, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Complete all required training prior to performing any assigned tasks.
  • Cross-check sample requirements against Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage and coordinate all assigned tasks efficiently and complete deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Perform QC support activities such as:
    • General lab housekeeping and organization.
    • Cleaning the lab environment.
    • Ensuring expired media are removed.
    • Document archiving.
    • Preliminary agar plate readings.
    • Media fill reading.
  • Support the microbiology lab with analytical testing, including:
    • Pipetting.
    • Water testing.
    • Colony observation on agar plates.
    • Work within a laminar flow hood.
  • Ensure all preventive maintenance on equipment is performed by the required due dates.
  • Participate in investigations of out-of-specification or non-conforming test results.
  • Support internal and external audits (e.g., lab preparation, data retrieval).
  • Implement preventive or corrective actions based on manager feedback.
  • Contribute to lab improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Must be willing to work on-site Monday–Friday (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM) and potentially weekends and holidays based on business needs.
 Basic Qualifications:
One of the following:
  • High School Diploma/GED and 2 years of work or military experience
  • Associate degree and 6 months of work or military experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Life Sciences) and 1 year of related experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in Biology or Microbiology.
  • Experience with GxP and QC systems in biopharmaceutical testing.
  • Familiarity with CDOCS (Veeva Vault), LIMS, and/or SmartLab (LMES).
  • Strong understanding of Data Integrity Requirements in QC systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and detail orientation.
  • Strong collaboration skills across functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
 Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent sitting and fine hand manipulation.
  • Repetitive handling of agar plates.
  • Use of desk-based computer systems.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects up to 15 pounds.
 Working Conditions:
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required:
    • Safety glasses
    • Safety shoes
    • Lab coats
    • Gloves
    • Face masks (as applicable)
