Job Description

Job Title: Program Manager II/ Strategic Sourcing Manager
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Overview
The Strategic Sourcing Manager will develop, drive, and execute product category strategies. This individual will play a critical role in building a world-class supply chain, working closely with Hardware Engineering, Technical Program Management, Finance, and Technical Operations throughout the product development cycle—from prototype to mass production—to ensure successful product launches.

This role requires leading sourcing activities for new technologies and innovative manufacturing processes to achieve design intent while balancing quality, cost, sustainability, and continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.


Core Responsibilities

Contract Manufacturing Operations (CM Ops) Management

  • Drive early supplier engagement in New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Technology Introduction (NTI) programs.

  • Establish supplier selection criteria, evaluate suppliers, and lead the supplier selection process in partnership with engineering, manufacturing design, and quality teams.

  • Negotiate master agreements and SOWs to secure competitive pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, warranty, and service terms.

  • Lead design and cost trade-off discussions during development to influence product design and manufacturing processes.

  • Develop and implement supplier performance measurement systems; conduct periodic supplier business reviews.

  • Influence supplier business investments and roadmaps to align with strategic goals for mechanical technology development.

  • Lead total cost reduction programs covering product cost, transportation, inventory, and quality.

  • Utilize should-cost models to guide negotiation strategies, identify cost savings, and optimize pricing.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to drive product and process improvements.

  • Build strong relationships with peers and stakeholders, ensuring alignment on objectives while driving growth and innovation in mechanical categories.

  • Identify opportunities beyond core responsibilities to lead cross-functional initiatives that drive innovation and efficiency.

  • Manage supplier scorecards and SOW contracts.


Program Management

  • Maintain overall coordination of the CM Ops team, ensuring alignment with standard structures (Off-Site Action Follow-up, Supplier Briefs, Approval Outlook Dates, Upcoming Events, etc.).

  • Hold PMP certification to support program structure and execution.


Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, sourcing, or contract manufacturing management.

  • 3+ years of direct experience with contract manufacturing, including managing Asia-based suppliers.

  • Strong leadership, program management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively across all levels of management.

  • Experience working in dynamic, high-volume environments such as consumer electronics or similar industries.

  • PMP certification required.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and prioritize multiple workstreams.
