Job Description

Job Title: Associate Scientist
Location: South San Francisco, CA, 94080, 100% onsite
Duration: 12 months

Schedule: 8:00am–5:00pm, Monday–Friday
Local = ideally within 30 miles or ~1 hour commute

Description:
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented bench scientist with strong lab fundamentals and the ability to independently execute experiments with minimal supervision. They must bring solid wet-lab experience, especially in cell culture and quantitative protein assays (ELISA, MSD, AlphaLISA, etc.), with proven ability to generate clean, reliable, figure-quality data. This role requires someone who is organized, rigorous, dependable, and comfortable juggling multiple experiments across inflammation and rare-disease biomarker programs. The manager values evidence of real experimental ownership, not just a long technique list. Candidates should show productivity (e.g., contributions to papers, posters, or decision-making data). Pharma industry experience is welcome but not required if the candidate has strong academic research experience and solid hands-on execution.

Description
We are seeking an Associate Scientist (BS/MS in Biochemistry, Biology, or related field with 2+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience) to support biomarker assay development for preclinical programs. The ideal candidate is highly proficient at the bench, with direct experience in MSD, Luminex, ELISA, AlphaLISA, qPCR, western blot, flow cytometry, cell culture, and RNA/protein extraction. This role involves designing and executing biomarker assays, performing sample analyses across rodent, NHP, and human tissues/plasma, troubleshooting technical challenges, and generating high-quality, reproducible data under minimal supervision and in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must demonstrate strong assay development and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to rigorous experimental execution, while maintaining accurate documentation and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Top 3 Must Have Skill Sets:
Flow cytometry, cell culture, quantitative protein techniques (e.g., ELISA, Alphalisa, MSD, Luminex)

Day to Day Responsibilities:
Carrying out experiments, documenting results, and communicating protocols and results effectively.
