Position Title: QC Microbiology Technician (Entry Level) Work Location: Social Circle, GA 30025 Assignment Duration: 6 Months Work Schedule: Swing Shift 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM Work Arrangement: Onsite
Position Summary: Performs routine environmental monitoring, critical utilities sampling and microbiological assays on raw materials, in-process, and final products.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform sampling activities and microbiological assays requiring precise analytical skills and an understanding of microbiology principles under minimum supervision.
Use sophisticated laboratory instrumentation and computer systems (e.g., LIMS) to collect and record data; perform assays requiring precise analytical skills and understanding of biology and chemistry principles.
Complete all testing, sampling, in a timely and appropriate manner adhering to aseptic practices.
Maintain data integrity and ensure compliance with company SOPs and specifications, FDA, GLP, QSR, and cGMP regulations.
Perform laboratory and safety audits as required.
Maintain inventory and supplies necessary to conduct routine testing and sampling.
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, or Biological Science with Analytical Chemistry or Microbiology laboratory coursework, and 0–2 years’ experience.
Proficient in wet and instrumental methods of analyses.
Advanced laboratory skills and basic knowledge of statistical method.
Strong technical problem solving skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, and in a timely fashion.
Must communicate effectively (verbal and written) with supervisors and peers.
Knowledge of most laboratory equipment including but not limited to autoclaves, incubators, analytical equipment
Must be proficient in a variety of mathematical operations and calculations and be able to work with both the metric and US standards of measurement.
Must be able to read and follow detailed written instructions and have good verbal/written communication skills.
Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures.
Good computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Microbiology: Environment monitoring, critical utility sampling, endotoxin testing, bioburden for raw materials and in process, process samples, microbial identification and final product sterility testing.
Supervision & Decision Authority:
Works under minimum / general supervision.
Follows SOPs to generate results and identifies when proper practices or procedures are not being followed.
Refers non-routine issues and out-of-limit / specification results to a supervisor or higher-level analyst.
Escalates excursions and complex issues per procedure.
