Job title: Senior Engineering Technician

Job Description:
Responsibilities:
  • Provide project/product support to include: Radio Access Network, GPS, Timing/Reference signal distribution, Device Automation Test Platforms, and other general lab test environment support from initial development, manufacturing, deployment, and all phases of a project/product life cycle
  • Responsible for sustaining aspects of the project or product life cycle to include documentation updates, design changes (hardware and software) based on incremental requirement changes
  • Responsible for product support tasks that are limited in scope with varying requirements
  • Conducts analyses to identify, troubleshoot, diagnose, and/or debug technical issues
  • Applications may include analog, RF, and/or digital.
  • Familiar with terminology and basic principles of commonly used Radio Access Technologies for mobile telecommunications to include: 5GNR, 4G LTE, and other 3GPP standards
  • Calculate path loss in dB for commonly used coaxial cable mediums and RF signal distribution networks
  • Use of spectrum/digital modulation analyzer to validate/troubleshoot RF signals
  • Creates/updates procedures on Confluence and SharePoint
 
General Lab Support Skills:
  • Effectively and accurately troubleshoots technical issues with minimal guidance
  • Proficient with General Purpose Test Equipment to include spectrum/digital modulation analyzers, signal generators, and cable testers
  • Performs measurements and executes test plans, as well as failure analysis and debugging of issues
  • Leverages knowledge of processes, equipment, and tools to provide comprehensive support
  • Conducts high-quality, basic analyses as directed to identify and escalate straightforward issues to leaders
  • Completes work on time with minimal guidance
  • Communicates status accurately and clearly using an appropriate medium for the audience
  • Collaborates and builds rapport with team members to complete work
  • Identifies/learns innovative ways to accomplish work and improve processes
  • Makes quick, accurate decisions
  • Engineering Lab Machine Onboarding
  • Adaptive DNS services
  • Installs/upgrades Windows software/tools on lab workstations
  • PDU configuration/deployment
  • Manages, sets up, and maintains benches, racks, and other equipment
  • Cable installation (Coax and Ethernet cabling as required)
  • Documents SOP of equipment and processes
  • Housekeeping and safety standards in the workplace
 
Level of Responsibility:
  • Works independently with little supervision.
  • Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels.
  • Most tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework.
  • Creativity is needed to draft original documents, imagery, or work products within established guidelines.
  • Deductive and inductive problem solving is required; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or incomplete; intermediate data analysis/interpretation skills may be required.
  • Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.
 
Required Skills:

 
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of basic electrical/electronics engineering, electronics or RF testing, or related experience.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • CET certificate or 2+ years of electronics coursework.
  • 5+ years of experience with general computer skills and Microsoft applications.
  • 3+ years experience in Semiconductor or related industry.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role with or without direct reports (only applies to positions with direct reports).
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 25 lbs
