Job Title: Early Childhood Education Teacher
Job Location: Richmond, VA 23298
Direct Hire role
Shift: The facility operations are from 6:00 AM-8:00 PM, and the shift will be determined upon hire.

 
Job Description:
  • Utilizing the Reggio education approach, the Child Care Teacher plans, develops, and implements child-centered, creative, and adaptive lesson plans and provides a safe, secure, and engaging environment for children from six weeks to six years of age.
  • As part of a teaching team, the Child Care Teacher ensures that interactions with children support their self-esteem and promote their growth and development.
  • Child Care Teacher makes learning a fun process that allows and encourages children to explore their full potential. This position communicates effectively and with respect to parents and team members.
  • The Child Care Teacher supports parents in achieving their parenting goals.
Requirements:
  • 2 years of previous experience working with children aged 6 weeks to 6 years of age (paid or unpaid).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 40 hours of coursework in early childhood education or related field (i.e. Child Psychology, Children’s Literature) Education/training.
Preferred Experience/ Education:
  • Experience specifically working with children 6 weeks to 2 years old.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate preferred. 
  • Previous experience working with children in a care center environment.
  • Familiarity with the Reggio philosophical approach to educating children - Education/training.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • The applicant will be responding to the needs of children.
  • Plan, develop, and implement lesson plans for the assigned classroom.
  • Document children’s daily progress and activities and prepare reports for parents.
  • Ensure that the classroom is clean and neat and free of health hazards or infection control risks.
  • Prepare ongoing assessments and documentation regarding children and children’s activities.
  • Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Supervise teacher aides and volunteers assigned to their classroom or within their scope of practice throughout the Center.
  • Preparation of the environment for classroom activities, including weekends and evenings, is required.
  • Ensuring that classrooms are kept in a manner that supports infection control, a pleasing environment in terms of aesthetics, and readiness for the next class assigned to that area is required.
  • Reviewing the area for safety, both indoors and outdoors, is essential.
  • Preparation of lesson plans for the week and assigned weekends is required.
  • Age-specific groups served: Pediatric, Adult Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate).
Top Skills:
  • Previous experience as an Educator.
  • Desire to work with children from birth to 5 years old.
  • Any additional schooling- CDA or Bachelor's, or Master's Degree.
  • Passionate about Collaboration with Other Educators.
  • Confident in Communication with Families.
 Additional Notes:
  • All positions are required to be available for shift rotations, holidays, and weekends.
  • Physical - Lifting less than 20 lbs.
  • Activities: Frequent bending, Climbing (steps, ladder, other).
  • Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, logical thinking.
  • Creativity Emotional: Fast pace environment, steady pace, able to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment, and able to adapt to frequent change.
