Client is seeking a skilled Materials Engineer II to support ongoing R&D initiatives in materials science and engineering, specifically within the optical components space. This position offers the opportunity to work in a hands-on lab environment, collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to drive innovation in polymer materials and coatings for ophthalmic applications.
This is a temporary contract role (not full-time employment) and is ideal for candidates with a strong technical foundation, curiosity, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic lab setting.

- Lead research and development efforts in materials and interfaces, focusing on innovative solutions for inkjet printing of ophthalmic lenses.
- Analyze, test, and characterize materials to ensure alignment with specifications and performance standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and manufacturing teams to integrate new materials into production processes.
- Operate laboratory tools and metrology instruments in a cleanroom or chemical lab environment.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to weekly project deliverables and peer-based tasks under the direction of the CWAM.
- Master’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in materials research, development, and testing.
- Proven experience in polymer material and formulation development for optical coatings.
- Ability to work in a lab or cleanroom environment and handle material characterization tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience with 3D printing technologies and inkjet-based material deposition.
- Hands-on experience with optical characterization and metrology tools.
- Background in polymer synthesis, formulation development, and coating processes.
