Job Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm 
 
Credit & Collections Specialist
The Accounting Assistant (Credit & Collections Specialist) will support the credit department by managing past-due accounts receivables. Responsibilities include monitoring specific A/R accounts, utilizing customer portals for account details, reconciling open cash and credit memo items, and assisting in the compilation and processing of customer credit information. Additionally, the role involves maintaining customer files within the content server.
 
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work within customer portals to obtain and resolve payment issues.
  • Contact customers via phone and email to address invoice concerns and collect outstanding funds.
  • Record accounts payable contacts and collections notes within the collection software.
  • Research and resolve open cash items and credit memos.
  • Initiate credit file updates with existing customers, including requesting updated credit applications and financial statements.
  • Monitor the credit inbox for inquiries and requests.
  • Contact new customers via email and/or phone to verify the completeness of bank and trade information.
  • Process credit information via email, phone, and fax.
  • Order DNBi, Credit Risk Monitor, Seafax, and F&D reports on customers.
  • Compile credit files and submit them to the credit analyst, manager, or director for review and decision-making.
  • Update collection and accounting software with the latest credit decisions.
  • Complete credit reference requests.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 2 years of general accounting, office, or credit experience.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • No specific license or certification required.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Detail-oriented with strong technical and professional competency.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective team player with strong collaboration skills.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time, energy, and resources effectively.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interact positively with all levels of personnel within Dairy Farmers of America, as well as with customers and vendors.
  • Strong human relations skills, including active listening ability.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
