Job Title: Cloud Engineer/Full Stack Software Engineer
Duration: 12 Months - C2H/Temp to Hire

Location: Hartford, CT 06103 - Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Hours: M-F 8-5 (occasional on call).

Must Haves: Looking for a software engineer (developer) who understands infrastructure as code in AWS and can do DevOps work. Must know Python/Go language and Terraform (TFE).

Seeking a Cloud Engineer. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced full-stack software engineer to help modernize our cloud account provisioning and management automation, build new microservices for Infrastructure as Code pipelines, and support adoption to Public Cloud platforms.

Our Cloud Engineers are tasked with designing, building, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and efficient cloud-based infrastructure and services. These efforts support innovation, application development, and technology operations across the enterprise. The team ensures that our cloud environments enable agility while maintaining reliability, performance, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with security and governance standards. Working across the full spectrum of cloud operations, Cloud Engineers handle everything from foundational infrastructure provisioning and automation to advanced architectural design and strategic planning. Their responsibilities vary based on experience, ranging from implementing basic cloud configurations to delivering enterprise-grade solutions and providing technical leadership across multi-cloud environments. This role demands expertise in Cloud Platforms and Services, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, scripting, networking concepts, integration patterns, and DevOps methodologies. Collaboration with Technology Engineering and Application Engineering teams is essential to design and manage cloud ecosystems that empower software development teams to innovate while ensuring adherence to enterprise standards and best practices.

Responsible for performing analysis, design, and implementation of Cloud services across public cloud environments with a high degree of accuracy:

  • Complete intermediate end to end engineering tasks for specific system assignments including developing, analyzing, configuring, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documenting, health monitoring/alerting, and implementing based on user or system design specifications, as well as participating in troubleshooting, conducting impact analysis and escalating appropriately.
  • Writes and supports Infrastructure-As-Code within an approved pipeline and adheres to best practices and standards.
  • Support and develop cloud automation of manual tasks for improved speed and consistency. This includes AWS account Automation used to provision standard and shared AWS accounts, enable services and guardrails within them, and maintain their infrastructure and details.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve and optimize our environment through tactical recommendations and strategic plans, working collaboratively with teams across technology organizations.
  • Define and implement technical requirements for Cloud solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) methodologies.
  • Design cloud deployment automation workflows while performing analysis and resolution for infrastructure issues of intermediate complexity.
  • Configure and optimize cloud-based compute, storage, and networking resources, ensuring efficiency, availability, and performance.
  • Implement monitoring systems for Cloud while ensuring adherence to security protocols and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Technology Engineers to ensure seamless integration between infrastructure services and higher-level platform services.

 

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • 3 years of Cloud/platform engineering experience preferred.
  • Domain Expertise - Emerging cloud platform expertise, including the ability to learn from research, others, and through asking thoughtful questions about infrastructure architecture, open to seizing opportunities to increase knowledge of cloud services and best practices.

Any certifications related to the following are preferred but not required:

  • AWS Developer Associate.
  • AWS SYSOPS Administrator Associate.
  • AWS DevOps Engineer Professional.
  • AWS Solutions Architect.
  • Intermediate level knowledge with the following:
  • Knowledge of process discipline and IDLC methodology.
  • Full-stack software development with GoLang, Python, and/or JavaScript using the Vue framework.
  • Experience with CI/CD DevOps and configuration management tools like Jenkins, Docker, GitHub, GitHub Actions, and/or Puppet.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (such as Terraform, TFE, or AWS Cloud Formations/CDK).
  • API and Microservice topologies.
  • Cloud computing knowledge (experience implementing Cloud services).
  • Experience with Serverless architecture and Container platforms.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as Network, Database, Server, Storage, etc. preferred.
