The Cropping Systems team within Seed Product Development is seeking a Systems Research Agronomist.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing new cropping systems in partnership with a team of scientists from client’s R&D, with a focus on water-limited and managed irrigation environments in the western US. Responsibilities will include design and analysis of multi-crop, systems-level agronomic trials, development of agronomic recommendations, and responsibility for research collaborations, farmer and agronomist interactions and business relationships.

- Weekly Schedule (how many hours/days): 40 hours
- Shift Times: 8am - 5pm
- Interview Required? Yes, Onsite preferred in Johnston or Virtual
- Resume Review Required? Yes
- Any specific skills, requirements or experience you want in a candidate: PhD in agronomy or plant sciences, or MS +5yrs. relevant experience
- Any additional Medical Surveillance testing required? No
- Any exposure to common allergens? Insects, Nuts, Plants, Chemicals
- Will they be driving? Yes, client vehicle and provided with fuel card
- Expenses: Yes, for overnight travel - to be reimbursed
- Will non-local/remote candidates be considered? Must be local to Garden City, KS or North Platte, NE
- Travel: to/from local university fields in ND to TX; Travel to TX around Feb then shifts North making way up to ND through September aligning with growing season

Qualifications
- PhD or MS in agronomy, plant physiology, plant breeding or ecology, with an emphasis in water-limited cropping systems.
- Knowledge of and applied, in-field experience with multi-crop systems. Research experience with brassica crops and renewable fuels are advantageous but not required.
- Experience with field research processes and data analyses and utilization.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required for effectively developing strong internal and external working relationships, as well as working with farmers.
- Strong organizational skills to plan and coordinate experiments across locations.
- Independent, highly motivated, and self-directed scientist.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work in varying environments to conduct field activities (such as data collection).
- Some travel required.
