Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Associate to join the Sample Management team within the Discovery Sciences & Technologies (DST) department. This role supports Client’s drug discovery efforts by enabling rapid and reliable access to small molecule and biologics samples. The position is based at Client’s state-of-the-art research facility in Foster City, California.
The Senior Research Associate will play a key role in managing compound and biologics inventories, supporting automation platforms, and optimizing workflows to enhance efficiency and data integrity across discovery programs.

This role supports Client’s drug discovery efforts by enabling rapid and reliable access to small molecule and biologics samples. The position is based at Client’s state-of-the-art research facility in Foster City, California.
The Senior Research Associate will play a key role in managing compound and biologics inventories, supporting automation platforms, and optimizing workflows to enhance efficiency and data integrity across discovery programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute sample management workflows, including sample check-in, storage, retrieval, aliquoting, plate normalization, and shipping.
- Manage biologics inventories, including antibodies, proteins, bioconjugates, compound libraries, plasmids, and cells.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot automation systems, liquid handlers, and analytical instrumentation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal R&D teams, CROs, and external partners to support hit-to-lead and profiling activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and high data integrity using electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Contribute to protocol development and continuous process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- 4+ years of relevant industry experience in sample management, compound logistics, and sterile techniques.
- Advanced experience with liquid handling and automation platforms (e.g., Echo, Bravo, Biomek, i7).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
Physical Environment and Physical Requirements
- Work is primarily laboratory-based in a modern research facility.
- Ability to handle laboratory samples, operate automation systems, and follow laboratory safety and documentation standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience troubleshooting automation systems and optimizing laboratory workflows.
- Hands-on experience with inventory management tools and high-throughput sample management operations.
