Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research Associate to join the Sample Management team within the Discovery Sciences & Technologies (DST) department. This role supports Client’s drug discovery efforts by enabling rapid and reliable access to small molecule and biologics samples. The position is based at Client’s state-of-the-art research facility in Foster City, California.
The Senior Research Associate will play a key role in managing compound and biologics inventories, supporting automation platforms, and optimizing workflows to enhance efficiency and data integrity across discovery programs.
 
Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute sample management workflows, including sample check-in, storage, retrieval, aliquoting, plate normalization, and shipping.
  • Manage biologics inventories, including antibodies, proteins, bioconjugates, compound libraries, plasmids, and cells.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot automation systems, liquid handlers, and analytical instrumentation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal R&D teams, CROs, and external partners to support hit-to-lead and profiling activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and high data integrity using electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Contribute to protocol development and continuous process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
 
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience in sample management, compound logistics, and sterile techniques.
  • Advanced experience with liquid handling and automation platforms (e.g., Echo, Bravo, Biomek, i7).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
 
Physical Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Work is primarily laboratory-based in a modern research facility.
  • Ability to handle laboratory samples, operate automation systems, and follow laboratory safety and documentation standards.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience troubleshooting automation systems and optimizing laboratory workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory management tools and high-throughput sample management operations.
