Distributed Java Developer – Customer Communications Systems

Your Opportunity:
We are seeking a technically strong Distributed Java Developer with experience in OpenText Exstream or other Customer Communications Systems (CCM). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing, developing, and maintaining applications for both real-time and high-volume batch environments.

The Regulatory Communications Technology (CRT) group delivers innovative and scalable technology solutions to enhance client communication experiences across various delivery channels. This includes products such as brokerage and bank statements, letters, tax documents, trade confirmations, operational and marketing communications, and regulatory forms.

As a Developer, you will work to enhance the Customer Communications Management (CCM) platforms using Java and OpenText Exstream, collaborating with Product Teams, Technology Leads, and Architects to design and implement robust solutions, fix bugs, and develop automation testing suites.


What You’ll Do:
We are looking for a mid-level Developer with a strong Java development background who is excited about building robust, distributed applications. Your responsibilities include:

  • Development Efforts:
    • Lead development for OpenText Exstream and distributed applications on CCM platforms.
    • Build and release coordination, deployment strategies, and issue resolution.
  • Process Improvement and Automation:
    • Enhance tooling and implement process automation.
    • Develop content validation automation frameworks.
  • Risk Management:
    • Oversee code review, approval processes, scope management, and ensure quality delivery.
  • Collaboration:
    • Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to develop technical solutions aligned with product roadmaps.
    • Work closely with geographically distributed tech teams to design and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Scalable Design:
    • Design and support ultra-high-volume batch applications for various communication channels.

What You Have:

Technical Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Java Development: 8+ years of professional experience in Java/Spring web and service development.
  • OpenText Exstream Expertise: Medium-level experience with OpenText Exstream suite and CCM systems.
  • Distributed Applications: Experience with distributed applications, Unix, Shell scripting, and batch processing.
  • Agile Development: Hands-on experience working in a scrum team within an agile environment.
  • CCM Best Practices: Knowledge of digital and traditional delivery channels, including mobile scaling, real-time vs. batch delivery, and print operational efficiencies.
  • Batch Processing: Strong understanding of high-volume batch processing, job scheduling, scaling concepts, and best practices.
  • CI/CD Tools: Proficiency with Jenkins, Bamboo, Git, Bitbucket, and other CI/CD pipelines.

Communication and Collaboration Skills:

  • Ability to lead application and platform architecture design sessions.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to partner across teams and functions.
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams across time zones.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OpenText Exstream Development: Experience implementing input/reference/connector formats (e.g., Flat files, XML, MQ, SOAP, JSON, JDBC/ODBC).
  • Output Formats: Expertise with formats like AFP, PDF, XML, HTML5.
  • Frameworks and Databases: Experience with Java Core, Spring, Selenium, NoSQL databases, MongoDB, or SQL.
  • Cloud Technologies: Knowledge of Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) or similar platforms.
  • Control-M and Mainframe Systems: Familiarity with legacy systems is a plus.
