Job Description

Job Title: Financial Counselor
Location : Dalton, GA - Onsite
Type: Full-time / Direct-Hire


Position Summary:-
Our client is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Financial Counselor to join the Cancer Institute. This individual will serve as the primary financial resource for oncology patients by verifying insurance benefits, providing cost estimates, educating patients on financial responsibility, and assisting with financial assistance programs.
The ideal candidate has experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and healthcare financial counseling while providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:-
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to treatment.
  • Review deductibles, co-pays, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket costs.
  • Provide patient cost estimates.
  • Explain insurance benefits, EOBs, and medical bills.
  • Screen patients for Medicaid, charity care, and financial assistance programs.
  • Assist patients with financial assistance and medication assistance applications.
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, case management, and billing teams.
  • Resolve insurance coverage issues prior to treatment.
  • Monitor patient accounts to improve claim processing and reimbursement.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and excellent patient service.

Required Qualifications:-
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of healthcare, patient access, or revenue cycle experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Medicare
    • Medicaid
    • Commercial insurance
    • Insurance verification
    • Referrals & prior authorizations
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience explaining financial responsibility to patients.

Preferred Qualifications:-
  • Oncology experience
  • Financial counseling experience
  • Patient financial assistance experience
  • Hospital revenue cycle experience
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
  • CHAA or CPAR certification
