Job Description

Position Title: Phlebotomist I
Work Location: Charlotte, NC, USA – 5901 Northwoods Business Parkway
Assignment Duration: 3 months 
Work Arrangement: Onsite

Position Summary:

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties including specimen collection, patient interaction, specimen processing, and maintaining laboratory procedures. This role requires the ability to work independently while providing excellent patient care to pediatric and geriatric populations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection procedures accurately and efficiently.

  • Collect, label, centrifuge, process, and package specimens according to established procedures.

  • Ensure proper specimen handling and storage requirements are maintained.

  • Verify patient information and match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.

  • Explain specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously to patients.

  • Maintain specimen integrity during transport and storage.

  • Work independently at the assigned patient service center location.

  • Demonstrate experience working with pediatric and geriatric patients.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to specimen collection and processing.

  • Follow OSHA and laboratory safety guidelines at all times.

  • Perform daily maintenance and decontamination procedures as required.

  • Support workflow efficiency and maintain quality standards.

  • Participate in required department trainings and compliance activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of phlebotomy experience required.

  • Experience working with pediatric and geriatric patients required.

  • Comfortable working independently in a solo site environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and specimen handling accuracy.

  • Excellent communication and patient interaction skills.

  • Basic computer and data entry skills preferred.

  • Ability to work 1st shift schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Additional Requirements:

  • Negative THC screen required.

  • Flu vaccination required.

  • Color vision screening required.

  • Potential for contract-to-hire opportunity based on performance and business needs.
