Title: Lab Tech Location: Avon, Ohio 44011 Shift: Monday through Friday 7:30 – 4:00 PM to start, may change based on needs of the facility. Duration: 2.5 months
Two openings: Lab Support person will be doing more lab work and the 2nd position, Labor will be data entry person will be at a computer 75% – 85% of the time, out in the facility possibly the remainder. The manager will review resume to determine which position each candidate is better fit for.
Manager will review resumes and schedule plant tours as part of their interview process.
Responsibilities:
Review the verification sheets to determine what tests are needed that correlates with the possible disposal site. Such as but not limited to: mercury, flash, physical (finger print), bomb for btu and % Cl, and % water if needed.
Verify results fit the proper disposal site.
Enter data in EnviroWare along with final coding and enter notes in disposal notes if needed.
Follow discrepancy procedures: Ex. if sample has a pH or flashpoint issue must ask for resample. Once verified must resubmit an email to appropriate team members for them to follow up with moving forward with discrepancy process.
Know how to open and close the lab, ie: turn on/off mercury lumex, make sure gas is off and flash units are turned on/off, etc..
Comply with standards and check scales with weights provided on a weekly basis.
Maintain inventory and tell appropriate people for reordering supplies needed.
Know how to make needed reagents.
Check safety shower/ eye wash station on a weekly basis and write it on appropriate tag.
Be able to differentiate between hazardous and non-hazardous materials for retain.
Be able to know how to look up results in Enviroware as plant personnel may come in and ask questions regarding results on a particular sample.
Be willing to comply with the plant to help with projects that they are working on.
Be able to get along with everyone who works at this facility as they come in and ask questions.
Be able to communicate in a professional manner and explain things to others to help them understand.
Be willing to work as a team. Work together to dispose of samples that are beyond the hold date.
Be proactive – if samples come in, take the initiative to process them and ask questions if unsure.
If problems arise, communicate with the person with whom there are issues then go to Supervisor then Lab Manager
Maintain a clean lab at all times.
Protective Equipment Required:
Steel toe boots required.
