Infrastructure Operations Engineer

Position Summary:

Our technical giant client is seeking a skilled and motivated Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join their team. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in high-availability environments and are passionate about automation, operational excellence, and system reliability. You will support and improve production infrastructure by driving root cause analysis, automation, and streamlined processes at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and troubleshoot incidents in production environments.

• Provide support for incoming service tickets, including technical issue resolution and feature inquiries.

• Continuously monitor system performance and ensure infrastructure health.

• Understand platform architecture at a high level and apply structured troubleshooting techniques.

• Apply strong project management and problem-solving skills to improve operations.

• Drive technical innovation and operational efficiency through automation.

• Design and implement automated monitoring and management solutions.

• Develop processes that streamline operational workflows and enhance customer impact.

• Identify and resolve root causes of issues, simplifying systems and automating where possible.

• Prioritize simple, repeatable, and robust solutions over unnecessarily complex alternatives.

• Follow best practices in documentation, testing, security, and operational support at scale.

• Develop and track metrics to measure and demonstrate operational efficiency improvements.

Core Requirements:

• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as AWS CDK and CloudFormation.

• Hands-on knowledge of AWS services including SQS, SNS, ECS, Lambda, CloudWatch.

• Proficiency in automation using Perl, Python, or shell scripting.

• Solid understanding of network protocols: Ethernet, ARP, IP, ICMP, UDP, TCP, SSL, DNS, HTTP.

• Strong troubleshooting and system-level diagnostic skills.

• Experience developing SQL queries and working with databases.

• Familiarity with security best practices in system configuration and access controls.

• Demonstrated passion for engineering innovation and cost-effective solutions.

Highly Desirable:

• Working knowledge of at least one programming language and programming concepts.

• Experience with version control systems such as Git, Mercurial, or SVN.

• Background in managing or deploying servers in large-scale, geographically distributed environments.

• Exposure to AWS architecture and deployment strategies.
