Core Technical Skills

• Automation Expertise (Non-negotiable): Must know automation testing inside and out.
• API & Backend Automation: Needs to be deeply well-versed in API testing and backend automation, which covers about 80% to 90% of what is needed.
• Client-Side Automation:
  • Web Automation: Strongly biased/prioritized. If a candidate doesn't have both web and native, Alex explicitly prefers web.
  • Native App Automation: A significant plus (having a combination of backend + native is also acceptable).
• Media & Video Streaming exp preferred:
  • Preferred, not a dealbreaker: Experience testing event streaming and video assets (e.g., handling complex edge cases like large video files up to 15 GB or 50 GB.. not sure ).
  • Core automation principles are fungible—as long as the person is solid at API testing and a quick learner, prior video domain experience is not a strict showstopper.

• Needs to come in with a strong perspective on what an effective automation framework should look like.
• Capable of drafting and presenting proposals to the team (e.g., "This can be done; what are your thoughts?"), getting alignment, and executing.
• Self-Organizing & Autonomous Execution:
• Must be able to "run with it unapologetically" once a decision is made.
• Must not be someone who passively observes or constantly waits for tasks to be fed to them.
• Coaching & Mentorship:
• Strong enough to teach, guide, and upskill the full-time employees rather than relying on them for direction.
