Summary:

Responsible for the assembly, installation, and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures on pumping, potable water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and fire systems. The Plumber responds to and documents work order requests submitted by airport personnel and/or supervisors. They perform other scheduled maintenance and inspections, strictly following applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements. The role also includes coordinating resources, equipment, and materials needed to perform work effectively and efficiently.

Essential Functions:

  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.
  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair pumps and pumping systems.
  • Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances (such as water heaters), or fixtures (such as sinks or toilets) using hand or power tools.
  • Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe to required angles using hand or power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, or pipe-bending machines.
  • Review blueprints, building codes, plumbing codes, fire codes, or specifications to determine work details or procedures.
  • Estimate time, material, or labor costs for use in project plans.
  • Install underground storm, sanitary, or water piping systems, extending piping as needed to connect fixtures and plumbing.
  • Document daily work using the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Use the corresponding safety equipment and comply with established regulations.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections on all potable water, sanitary wastewater, storm sewer water, and fire protection systems.
  • Escort visitors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Execute any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Plumbing Certificate from a recognized Technical Institute or College.
  • Plumbing License from the State Department and Professional Membership.
  • One (1) year of experience in a similar position.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Spanish and English, with the ability to read and understand simple instructions.
  • Knowledge and ability to work with tools and equipment necessary for the role.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Knowledge of radio communication, management, and use of technical and personal safety equipment, tools, and medium vehicles.
  • Basic arithmetic skills, including multiplication and division of fractions, as well as calculations related to prices, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to interpret, reproduce, and disseminate simple graphics.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
