Job Title: Technical Data Analyst I Location: Toronto ON Duration: 12 months
AI Strategy & Governance Analyst role supports the development and execution of the GDS AI Strategy by advancing both AI governance capabilities and AI initiative delivery. The position works across business, operational, data, and technology teams to establish governance processes, identify and evaluate AI opportunities, develop business cases, support project execution, and monitor value realization.
The individual will facilitate cross-functional collaboration, document requirements and processes, support investment prioritization, prepare decision-ready materials for leadership, and help ensure AI initiatives progress from concept through implementation in alignment with GDS strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
AI Governance Framework Support: Support the development and continuous improvement of the GDS AI governance framework, including intake, prioritization, funding, risk management, and value realization processes. Support the development and management of the GDS AI opportunity portfolio, including intake tracking, prioritization, dependency management, value assessment, and reporting on progress toward strategic outcomes. Support organizational readiness, user adoption, communications, and change management activities to help ensure successful implementation and sustained business value from AI solutions. Develop and maintain AI initiative business cases, including value hypotheses, benefit estimates, implementation assumptions, and post-implementation value realization tracking. Coordinate governance forums, steering committees, and cross-functional working groups, including meeting facilitation, agenda development, decision tracking, and action management. Support governance decision-making by preparing recommendations, facilitating stakeholder alignment, documenting risks and decisions, and ensuring actions are executed across governance forums and working groups. Develop executive-ready materials, dashboards, and reporting to support leadership decision-making and portfolio management. Build list/dashboard and Track AI portfolio performance, benefits realization, adoption metrics, and governance outcomes. Support in developing a GDS AI Hub SharePoint site as a resource
AI Project Prioritization and execution support Coordinate activities between business teams, data teams, SMEs, vendors, and technology delivery groups to advance AI initiatives from concept through implementation. Assist business with the evaluation and prioritization of AI opportunities using established value, risk, feasibility, and strategic alignment criteria. Identify opportunities for process automation, machine learning, generative AI, and advanced analytics solutions. (optional wording) Partner with business and operational teams to identify, assess, and mature AI, automation, digital, and analytics opportunities that improve safety, reliability, customer experience, productivity, and business performance. Support AI opportunity intake, discovery workshops, and business problem definition sessions with business stakeholders.
Education / Experience:
Post-secondary certificate/diploma or university degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data/Analytics, Engineering, or related.
0-4+ years (2-5+ years of experience supporting business transformation, data and analytics initiatives, technology delivery, portfolio management, governance, or process improvement programs.) of related experience supporting or delivering data, systems, process improvement, or large application work in a business setting.
Strong Project management Skills - stakeholder management and facilitation skills (work effectively with business leaders, SMEs, and IT).
Experience supporting governance processes, strategic initiatives, or organizational transformation programs.Understanding of AI, automation, analytics, or digital transformation concepts and business applications.
Working knowledge of GenAI / AI/ML (e.g., Databricks/enterprise data platforms)Experience preparing business cases and decision-ready summaries for governance/leadership reviews.
Strong written and verbal communication; able to simplify complex topics into practical actions.
Proficiency with MS Excel (Power Query) and Power BI; comfortable working with data and reporting. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Change management / communications ; strong presentation and documentation skills. AI use case evaluation and prioritization.

Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, Generative AI, or emerging AI capabilities
Experience supporting AI, digital, or innovation portfolios
Exposure to Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or enterprise data platforms
