Title:  Lab Technician II
Duration: 1 Year
Location: Portsmouth, NH 03801


Description:
Should be 20 hrs week/5 days week M-F, flexible on the actual hrs within the day upon finding the right person.

This part time laboratory technician role would require the incumbent to perform routine support tasks, study preparation and general laboratory upkeep. They would perform routine tasks independently after on the job training, and assist laboratory scientists with study work, sampling and in-process testing. Routine tasks include:
Washing glassware (loading glassware washer as well as manual soaking)

Calibrating pH / conductivity meters

Preparing solutions and reagents

Participate in laboratory safety audits

Ordering and stocking general laboratory supplies

Inventory and routine clean outs of freezers and cold rooms

Package pick-up from shipping/receiving

Packaging and autoclaving parts

Reviewing logbooks

Help with routine upkeep of analyzers and laboratory instruments (NOVA FLEX2, pH/conductivity meter, ViCell, SoloVPE, AKTA Avant, HPLC)

Assist with laboratory 6S initiatives

Help coordinate equipment troubleshooting/repairs, pipette calibrations

Assist Scientist level personnel with study work and perform routine assays

Complete weekly checklist for laboratory housekeeping

Obtain quotes and lead times from vendors for study materials

This is an entry level position, but a background in Biology/Biotech is required. A 4 yr science degree would be preferred. A preferred candidate would be a recent grad or someone with 0-3 yrs experience working in a laboratory environment whether that be academia or industry.
