Job Description
Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Location: 900 W 3rd St, Farmville, VA 23901, USA
Duration: 3 Months
Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm
Interview Mode: VIDEO CONFERENCE
Vaccine requirements: TB and color vision are required
Training will be at a PSC location on 3rd floor at this location so will be training there and then after 1 or 2 weeks of training then go to the IOP location to finish training.
Required Skills:
Hard to stick patient skills required. Geriatric and maternity patient experience.
Candidate will be drawing and processing specimen drop offs from nurses, so HM is looking for experience phlebotomist with 3+ years of experience.
Description:
Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities:
Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex., urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct.
Package specimens for transport.
Stores specimen samples according to the required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube, accurately labels, and follows different procedures as outlined by specific protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen.
Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
Minimum of 2 year work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
High School Diploma or GED 0-2 years of experience
