Is your passion inspired by invention? Is problem solving through teamwork in your DNA? Do you like the idea of seeing how your work affects the bigger picture? Answer yes to any of these and you will fit right in here. We are a smart team of doers that work passionately to apply innovative advances in robotics and software to solve real-world challenges that will transform our customers' experiences in ways we cannot even imagine yet. We invent new improvements every day. We will give you the tools and support you need to invent with us in ways that are rewarding, fulfilling and fun.
Operations organization oversees the manufacturing of high-quality robotics and gets the right materials to the right place at the right time to enable our automated solutions. It's a fast-paced operation that works cross-functionally with teams across globally, and is driven by data and performance indicators.
The Product Quality Engineering (PQE) team is hiring a hands-on Test Support Specialist to provide first-level support for manufacturing test systems at the internal factories in North Reading and Westborough, MA. Automated end-of-line test stations are production equipment: when a station faults, you are the first responder who restores it and keeps the line moving. PQE owns first response for deployed test stations; the Manufacturing Test and Controls (MTAC) engineering team owns the test solutions, run-books, and the escalation support behind you. You will recover stations using released run-books and, where deployed, AI-guided diagnostic tools at the station, and escalate issues beyond run-book scope to MTAC with complete failure context. MTAC trains and certifies you on each station before you support it independently.
Job Responsibilities:
Actively support and foster a culture of inclusion.
Provide first response for automated test stations on the production floor: station restarts, controlled software recovery, and de-energized troubleshooting of the unit under test, test fixtures, cables, and interfaces per released run-books.
Systematically isolate faults across mechanical, electrical, and software domains within run-book scope, applying Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and the least invasive intervention first.
Triage known failure signatures using run-books and AI-guided diagnostics at the station; contain or resolve restart, reseat, swap, and setup issues.
Capture complete, structured data for every event: test results, failure symptoms, serial numbers, and actions taken.
Escalate issues beyond run-book scope through the ticketing system with full failure context; support test engineering during remote and on-site debug.
Support preventive maintenance and calibration schedules for test equipment per released procedures; perform station health checks (golden-unit verification) where not covered by station operators.
Preserve test verdict integrity: unit pass/fail dispositions come from the test system and test engineering; document anomalies, never override results.
Complete and maintain station certifications delivered by the test engineering team.
Follow site safety practices: ESD-safe handling, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), and de-energized work rules.
Work first or second shift as scheduled; local travel between the North Reading and Westborough sites as needed.
Support production coverage needs, including occasional overtime and weekend builds scheduled in advance.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Work is performed on an active manufacturing floor at the North Reading and Westborough sites.
Able to stand and walk for the majority of a shift; bending, reaching, and kneeling required for work at test stations and fixtures.
Able to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted.
Personal protective equipment per site policy: ESD protection, safety glasses, and safety-toe shoes where posted.
Basic Qualifications:
Associate degree or technical certificate in electronics, mechatronics, robotics, or a related field, with 2+ years of hands-on experience as a test, electronics, electro-mechanical, or manufacturing technician.
Experience testing or repairing PCBAs, cable harnesses, or robotic and electro-mechanical assemblies.
Working knowledge of basic hand tools and digital multimeters for troubleshooting electro-mechanical assemblies.
Experience with ESD-safe handling of electronic assemblies.
Ability to read and follow released test procedures, work instructions, and basic electrical or mechanical drawings.
Computer literacy on Windows-based equipment: navigating test software, entering structured data, and using ticketing tools.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple open issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting automated test equipment (functional test, in-circuit test, or end-of-line test) in a production environment.
Familiarity with test executive software such as NI TestStand or LabVIEW-based testers.
Exposure to a scripting language such as Python for log collection or test data handling.
Basic wired network troubleshooting (Ethernet connectivity, IP configuration).
Experience working in run-book or SOP-driven operations with ticket-based escalation.
Experience working under LOTO and machine safeguarding procedures.
