Position Overview We are seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to lead all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing field operations on large-scale, fast-paced design-build construction projects within the advanced manufacturing sector. This individual will be responsible for coordinating and directing MEP trade contractors, managing system installations from rough-in through commissioning, and ensuring all building systems meet the rigorous performance standards required in advanced manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in complex MEP systems — including process piping, cleanroom HVAC, high-voltage electrical distribution, and specialty gas/chemical delivery — within facilities where system reliability and precision are non-negotiable. They thrive in concurrent-design environments and excel at sequencing MEP work around structural, architectural, and process equipment installations.
Key Responsibilities
MEP Field Leadership: Direct and coordinate all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing construction activities including HVAC, process piping, power distribution, fire protection, and plumbing systems across multiple work fronts.
Trade Coordination: Manage MEP subcontractors and self-perform crews; lead weekly MEP coordination meetings, resolve spatial conflicts, and ensure installation sequences align with the master schedule.
Design-Build Integration: Work directly with MEP design engineers to review evolving design packages, provide constructability input, identify value engineering opportunities, and resolve RFIs in real-time.
BIM/Clash Coordination: Leverage 3D MEP coordination models to identify and resolve clashes prior to installation; ensure field conditions match coordinated models and drive accountability for model accuracy.
Schedule Management: Develop and maintain detailed MEP look-ahead schedules; drive pull planning sessions with trade partners to protect critical path milestones in a fast-track environment.
Quality Control: Oversee MEP quality programs including pressure testing, insulation inspections, electrical termination checks, and system flushing/cleaning protocols required for advanced manufacturing environments.
Commissioning Support: Lead MEP system startup and commissioning activities; coordinate with commissioning agents, process equipment vendors, and owner operations teams to achieve system turnover milestones.
Safety Leadership: Enforce MEP-specific safety protocols including lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hot work permits, and electrical safety; champion zero-incident culture across all MEP trades.
Manpower Planning: Forecast MEP labor requirements, monitor productivity, and escalate resource gaps to ensure adequate craft coverage during peak installation periods.
Closeout & Turnover: Manage MEP punch list resolution, O&M manual collection, as-built coordination, and warranty documentation for system turnover.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of MEP construction experience, with at least 5 years in a Superintendent or Senior Foreman role overseeing multi-trade MEP installations.
Demonstrated experience on fast-paced, design-build construction projects with concurrent design and construction activities.
Direct experience with advanced manufacturing facility MEP systems (semiconductor fabs, battery plants, pharmaceutical, or similar process-intensive environments).
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, process cooling, cleanroom air handling), electrical systems (medium/high voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS), and plumbing/process piping.
Experience managing MEP scopes on projects valued at $200M+ with peak MEP workforce exceeding 500 craft workers.
Proficiency reading and interpreting MEP construction drawings, specifications, and P&IDs.
Working knowledge of BIM/Revit coordination workflows and clash detection processes.
OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
Familiarity with commissioning processes (Cx) and system turnover protocols for critical facilities.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field — OR equivalent combination of education and trade experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with semiconductor fab or cleanroom construction MEP systems (process exhaust, ultra-pure water, specialty gases, chemical delivery).
Journeyman or Master electrician/pipefitter license or equivalent trade background.
NFPA 70E electrical safety certification.
Experience with prefabrication and modular MEP assembly strategies.
Lean construction training or Last Planner System® certification.
Experience with integrated commissioning (ICx) on mission-critical facilities.
LEED AP or knowledge of sustainable mechanical/electrical systems.
