Job Description: Scope: Review and validate all mechanical design packages for the Factory 1 construction project, covering both wet and dry systems, including HVAC, plumbing, cooling towers, and chillers — along with structural coordination. Ensure all designs comply with IMC, IPC, NFPA, local AHJ requirements. Coordinate closely with the design Engineer of Record (EOR), the General Contractor (GC), and internal stakeholders to resolve RFIs, design conflicts, and constructability issues. Support permit submissions and review contractor submittals within the mechanical scope to ensure alignment with the approved design intent.
Design Review: Mechanical design reviews over engineering and construction milestones. Reviews of HVAC and fire protection in the design stage
Thorough mechanical review and taking packages through local AHJ permit review. (Specific Austin or Texas AHJ experience is a plus)
RFI and submittal review working directly with an Engineer of Record and a General Contractor.
Independently disposition contractor submittals and drive RFI closure
Core Design Competencies
End-to-end mechanical design — concept through permit/construction-ready drawings for industrial facilities
Mechanical design review and validation on industrial or manufacturing construction projects, including red-lining drawings and catching coordination conflicts at the design stage
Wet & Dry Mechanical Systems
HVAC, plumbing, process cooling, cooling towers, and chillers
Cooling water systems (chillers, towers, heat exchangers, pumps)
Air distribution systems (AHUs, terminal units, fans, dehumidification, exhaust)
Data center or manufacturing facility background preferred over commercial office
Codes, Standards & Permitting
ICC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ASME, ANSI
Working knowledge of IMC, IPC, and NFPA
Experience taking packages through local AHJ permit review; Austin/Texas AHJ experience is a plus
Construction-Phase Engineering
RFI and submittal review experience working directly with an Engineer of Record and a General Contractor
Ability to independently disposition contractor submittals and drive RFI closure
Design-change resolution during construction
BIM & Software Proficiency
Revit and AutoCAD proficiency
Navisworks clash detection for structural and MEP coordination
Revizto experience
