Job Title: IT Business Analyst Duration : 12 Months ( Possibility of Conversion/ Possibility of Extension) Work Location: Toronto, Ontario. Hybrid: 4 days on-site; one day work from home
SUMMARY OF THE ROLE: As a Senior Business Systems Analyst, you will be responsible for:
Requirements Elicitation and Management: Collaborate with pod members/business stakeholders to plan, elicit, analyze, document, communicate and lead the delivery of detailed functional and non-functional requirements in alignment with Delivery Execution Framework (DEF) and Behavior Driven Design (BDD) Standards. Create and maintain detailed documentation including business requirements, process flows, use cases, user stories, and technical specifications. Ensure documentation remains current and accessible for reference and auditing purposes. Lead brainstorming and user story refinement sessions to ensure requirements are clearly understood by all stakeholders and meet the expected business needs/desired outcomes.
Business Process Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of current capabilities, business processes and workflows (AS-IS), understand high level business requirements, identify areas for improvement, and recommend system enhancements (TO-BE) that align with best practices and business goals. May provide support with Business operational/process related analysis.
Solution Design: Translate business requirements into system specifications, and collaborating with technology partners to build and test the proposed solutions while ensuring traceability to business requirements throughout. Ensure that proposed solutions are scalable, sustainable, and integrate seamlessly with enterprise architecture.
Testing and Deployment Support: Support testing efforts to ensure scenarios and results align to requirements and assist in implementation activities to achieve business outcomes.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as the main liaison between business leadership and technical teams, offering expertise in business-technology matters and addressing system-related issues that pertain to business requirements and technical solutions. Liaise with third-party vendors and consultants as needed, ensuring their deliverables align with standards and business needs.
Continuous Improvement: Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technology trends/developments and develop expertise in services, applications, infrastructure, analytical tools and techniques that can contribute to effective solution development/delivery. Continuously enhance knowledge of business domains and their products/services.
MUST HAVE SKILLS: 1.) Agile- JIRA and Confluence- 5-7 years 2.) Minimum 5-7 years of experience in business analysis 3.) Demonstrated understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
SOFT SKILLS: 1.) Communication skills- written and verbal 3.) Team player and adaptable
NICE-TO-HAVE 1.) Experience with SQL, data analytics, and business intelligence platforms is a strong asset 2.) Banking/Financial 3.) Mainframe environment experience- 5-7 years
CANDIDATE PROFILE DETAILS: Degree/Level of Education: Undergraduate degree in related field or equivalent experience Certifications Required: Agile certifications are nice to have Years of Overall Experience: 5-7 years of overall experience as BA How will performance be measured: deliverables, productivity metrics Preferred/Ideal Candidate Background: Previous 5 years of working experience as a BA; someone who comes from Agile background (JIRA and Confluence), banking/financial is a strong nice to have (ideal background from the hiring manager’s perspective), Agile certifications will elevate a candidate’s profile, Mainframe experience is requires, familiarity with SDLC and previous experience gathering business requirements, collaborating with various stakeholders at different levels and a strong team player.
