Client is one of the largest privately held convenience retailers in the country, with a growing footprint and multiple operating divisions. As the company continues to grow, its fresh food offering is an increasingly important part of the customer experience and overall business.

Client is looking for a Category Manager, Fresh Foods to take ownership of the strategy, development, and financial performance of the fresh foods category. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to influence what products Client brings to market and how the category continues to evolve.

What You’ll Do

Own the overall strategy and performance of the Fresh Foods category
Manage category P&L, pricing, margins, cost of goods, and promotional strategy
Lead development and launch of new fresh food products
Manage product assortment based on sales performance, customer trends, and market opportunities
Lead vendor relationships, negotiations, contracts, and supplier performance
Partner with Food Safety/QA on quality, compliance, and regulatory requirements
Analyze category performance and identify opportunities to increase sales and profitability
Work closely with Operations, Marketing, Finance, and other teams to execute new products and initiatives
Help lead, mentor, and develop the category team

What We’re Looking For

Fresh foods experience is required
Category management experience is required
Experience owning category financials, including P&L, pricing, margins, and COGS
Experience developing and launching fresh/perishable food products
Vendor negotiation and supplier management experience
Understanding of food safety / FSQA requirements
Strong analytical skills
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience within convenience retail, grocery, QSR/foodservice, or another fresh-food retail environment is strongly preferred
