Position: SAP BTP/Fiori Lead Developer Location: Remote (Location preference is in the East Coast, remote with travel needed during UAT and cutover) Duration: 6 Months (Possibility of extension)
Job Description: Lead Developer for an SAP BTP side-by-side extension project at a major US utility company. You will own the end-to-end technical delivery of a mobile warehouse operations application built with SAPUI5/TypeScript and SAP CAP (Node.js), deployed on SAP BTP Cloud Foundry, and integrated with SAP ECC via Cloud Connector.
The application replaces manual SAP GUI-based warehouse operations with a mobile barcode-scanning Fiori app used by warehouse staff across multiple locations. The solution follows SAP's Clean Core principle — zero custom ABAP in ECC; all logic resides in a CAP backend on BTP calling standard BAPIs via RFC.
Responsibilities: Design & Documentation
Execute the existing solution design across frontend (UI5), backend (CAP/Node.js), and integration (Cloud Connector, RFC/BAPI) layers
Implement OData V4 service contracts, screen specifications, and UX flows based on the existing solution design
Resolve technical trade-offs that arise during implementation (e.g., error handling patterns, performance tuning)
Produce and maintain architecture documentation for PSEG-LI stage gate process and each milestone
Full-Stack Development (Critical Path)
Build the CAP backend framework: OData V4 services wrapping SAP ECC BAPIs via RFC
Implement the authentication chain: XSUAA → SAP IAS → Okta (Principal Propagation to ECC)
Develop shared UI5 components: barcode scanning module (camera + Bluetooth HID), responsive navigation shell, glove-friendly mobile interface
Build 2–3 reference Fiori modules end-to-end that serve as templates for the offshore team
Establish TypeScript project structure, build tooling, and coding standards
Integration
Configure SAP BTP destinations and Cloud Connector for DEV/QAS/PRD landscapes
Implement and validate Principal Propagation (end-user identity flows from BTP through to ECC)
Validate standard BAPI inputs/outputs with the SAP functional team
Troubleshoot RFC connectivity, SNC configuration, and transport issues
Team Leadership
Guide 1–2 offshore UI5 developers who replicate your reference patterns across remaining screens
Conduct code reviews and ensure quality/consistency across all modules
Coordinate with SAP functional lead, BTP admin, and PSEG-LI project team
Testing & Delivery
Support SIT, UAT, and Go-Live activities
Provide production support during 90-day hypercare period
Required:
SAPUI5/Fiori development — deep, hands-on experience building Fiori apps (not just configuring standard apps or Fiori Elements annotation-based development)
TypeScript — the project uses TypeScript for both frontend and CAP backend, in line with SAP's recommended approach for UI5 development
SAP CAP (Cloud Application Programming Model) - Node.js runtime, OData V4 service development
SAP BTP Cloud Foundry — deployment, service binding, subaccount management, MTA builds
SAP ECC integration via RFC/BAPI — calling standard BAPIs from CAP through Cloud Connector
SAP Cloud Connector — destination configuration, RFC mapping, SNC setup
Preferred Certifications:
Solution architecture — ability to design and document a multi-tier cloud application end-to-end
SAP Warehouse Management (WM) or MM domain knowledge — understanding of MIGO, LT03/LT04/LT12, VL02N, physical inventory transactions
Barcode scanning in Fiori — experience with sap.ndc.BarcodeScanner or equivalent mobile scanning implementations
Offline-capable web apps — IndexedDB, Service Workers, sync/conflict resolution patterns
SAP Business Application Studio — as the primary development IDE
