Job Description
Title: Technical Program Manager I
Location: Onsite (5 days/week) – Redmond, WA OR Sunnyvale, CA
Duration: 12 Months
Position Summary
We are seeking a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive program execution and manage stakeholders and dependencies for uLED backplane silicon programs, from early development through high-volume manufacturing.
In this role, you will operate across two primary axes:
-
Internal Alignment: Bridging internal display silicon teams with cross-functional partners (uLED, test, packaging, sourcing).
-
External Vendor Management: Interface between internal engineering and external foundry/silicon vendor partners.
You will translate high-level vendor milestones into task-level schedules, track cross-functional dependencies, facilitate 2-way and 3-way communications, and ensure decisions are effectively cascaded to all dependent teams. The ideal candidate brings strong cross-functional execution, top-tier communication skills, and the discipline to translate ambiguity into clear, actionable, and well-tracked deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
-
Internal Cross-Functional Coordination:
-
Lead recurring meetings and program reviews connecting uLED, test, packaging, and sourcing teams.
-
Track critical decisions, surface dependencies/risks, and resolve operational gaps prior to escalation.
-
-
External Vendor Interface Management:
-
Facilitate recurring reviews, joint working sessions, and face-to-face meetings with external foundry and silicon vendor partners.
-
Drive vendors to meet technical requirements and maintain integrated program schedules that align vendor commitments with internal milestones.
-
Identify schedule and technical misalignments early.
-
-
Program Tracking & Reporting:
-
Maintain authoritative tracking mechanisms for internal and external workstream status.
-
Deliver clear milestone readouts and actionable decision items for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
-
-
Risk Management:
-
Maintain a comprehensive risk register covering technical execution, vendor delivery, IP/confidentiality, and schedule risks.
-
Drive targeted mitigation plans with designated owners and target resolution dates.
-
Synthesize risk summaries for executive briefings.
-
Minimum Qualifications
-
1–3 years of experience as a Technical Program Manager (or equivalent project management experience) within a hardware or silicon development environment.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
-
Demonstrated experience coordinating execution across multiple engineering disciplines (silicon, hardware, test, packaging) and converting high-level goals into actionable task schedules.
-
Hands-on experience managing external vendors, contract manufacturers, or semiconductor foundries.
-
Direct exposure to hardware development lifecycle phases (e.g., prototype validation, qualification, mass production).
-
Proven track record of operating effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with evolving requirements and tight timelines.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting program status and risk assessments to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience supporting semiconductor programs across foundry, OSAT, or silicon vendor interfaces.
-
Familiarity with display silicon, uLED, or related electro-optical technologies.
-
Proven experience managing programs involving multiple concurrent external vendors across international time zones.
-
Proficiency with program tracking and milestone reporting tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Jira) tailored for complex hardware initiatives.
-
Experience supporting consumer device programs from prototype validation through mass production.
-
Skill in translating technical engineering status into strategic briefings for sourcing and procurement leadership.
