Job Description:
Seeking a seasoned Storage and Backup Infrastructure engineer to manage, maintain and optimize our enterprise-level storage systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with block, file, object and backup storage technologies and will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our storage and backup infrastructure from design and implementation to day-to-day operations and strategic capacity planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Protection & Security: Ensure data integrity and security by managing backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes. Implement and enforce ransomware protection and security best practices across all backup systems.
System Management & Maintenance: Administer and manage multi-vendor storage environments, including SAN, NAS, and cloud-based object storage. Perform routine maintenance, firmware updates, and system health checks to ensure high availability and performance.
Design & Architecture: Collaborate with other engineering and IT teams to design, architect, and implement scalable, resilient, and cost-effective storage solutions that meet the organization's evolving needs.
Performance Tuning & Optimization: Proactively monitor storage performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize system efficiency and throughput.
Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for storage-related incidents. Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Automation: Develop and implement Ansible automation scripts and tools to streamline routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all backup and storage systems, procedures, and best practices.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and technical leadership to junior engineers on the team.
Agile: Participate in Agile product meetings, deployments and related tasks
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
4+ years of hands-on experience as a Storage Engineer in an enterprise environment.
Extensive experience with enterprise data protection solutions (NetBackup or Commvault), disaster recovery and multi-site replication.
Deep expertise in a variety of storage and storage virtualization technologies, including at least two major vendors (e.g., IBM, NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage).
Solid understanding of storage protocols such as Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, and SMB.
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Ansible, Bash) for automation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with AWS cloud storage services
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) and their storage requirements.
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer, Dell EMC Certified Professional, AWS Cloud Practitioner).
