Role: Senior User Experience Designer
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Remote
Overview
We are seeking a Senior User Experience Designer with a strong foundation in user-centered design to create engaging digital experiences for higher education products. This role requires a collaborative designer who combines curiosity, strategic thinking, and design excellence to deliver high-quality solutions that improve learning outcomes.
The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, researchers, content strategists, and other stakeholders while effectively managing priorities and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Experience Design
- Design end-to-end user experiences across web and mobile platforms, from concept through implementation.
- Create user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, interactive prototypes, and detailed specifications.
- Ensure seamless collaboration with engineering teams through effective design handoff.
- Design and document scalable, accessible, and reusable design system components and patterns.
User Research & Validation
- Plan and conduct user research, usability testing, and discovery activities.
- Synthesize research findings into actionable design recommendations.
- Validate design solutions through testing, experimentation, and iteration.
- Leverage analytics and data insights to inform and improve user experiences.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Managers to define opportunities, frame design problems, and establish success metrics.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, research, content, and business stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
- Facilitate workshops and design sessions that drive alignment and shared understanding.
- Present design concepts and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead design initiatives for complex product areas and user journeys.
- Mentor junior designers through design critiques, collaboration, and feedback.
- Advocate for user-centered design principles and best practices across teams.
AI & Emerging Technologies
- Contribute to AI-driven user experiences and workflows.
- Evaluate ethical considerations and user impact when designing AI-powered solutions.
- Explore emerging AI design tools and methodologies to improve productivity and innovation.
Required Qualifications
- 7–10 years of experience in UX/Product Design or related field.
- Strong background in user research, usability testing, and problem-solving.
- Expertise in end-to-end product design processes.
- Advanced proficiency with Figma (required).
- Experience creating and maintaining design systems.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking, design craftsmanship, and measurable impact.
- Experience working in cross-functional Agile product teams.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI-powered product experiences.
- Experience using AI-assisted design tools (e.g., Cursor, Figma Make, or similar).
- Familiarity with JIRA and UserTesting.com.
- Experience conducting independent research studies and usability testing.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, including SharePoint and Microsoft Online.
Additional Information
- EST time zone preference.
- Candidate will join an existing team of three designers.
