Job Description

Title: Component Engineer
Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid – Onsite presence required)
Schedule: Day Shift | 37.5 hours/week (7.5 hours/day)
Job Summary
We are seeking a Component Engineer to support the selection, evaluation, and qualification of electrical and electro-mechanical components used in product design and development. The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Component Engineers to ensure components meet performance, quality, compliance, and sustainability requirements while supporting supplier evaluation and engineering documentation.
 
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the selection and qualification of electrical and electro-mechanical components and subassemblies.
  • Document component selections to ensure compliance with performance, regulatory, and product specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define component requirements and recommend design modifications.
  • Analyze component designs under the guidance of Senior Component Engineers to optimize component selection and functionality.
  • Review engineering drawings, design plans, specifications, and tolerances for products and machinery.
  • Evaluate component suppliers for quality, reliability, and long-term viability.
  • Follow established engineering standards, methods, and best practices when recommending components and suppliers.
  • Support sustainable design initiatives by considering environmental and lifecycle factors during component selection.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation and technical records.
Must Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in component engineering or a related engineering role.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical engineering principles.
  • Experience with electrical and electro-mechanical component selection and evaluation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience documenting engineering decisions and technical specifications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
Nice to Have
  • Experience evaluating and qualifying component suppliers.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and environmentally conscious component selection.
  • Familiarity with product compliance and industry standards.
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes and product development environments.
  • Experience supporting design optimization and component lifecycle management.
Additional Requirements
  • Hybrid work arrangement with regular onsite presence required in the Mississauga office.
  • Ability to work independently while receiving guidance from senior engineering staff.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple engineering tasks and priorities.
