Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Analyst – Governance & Control to support internal control testing and governance initiatives within a fast-paced wholesale banking environment. This is a long-term contract opportunity created to provide maternity leave coverage.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring internal control testing is conducted effectively and efficiently in accordance with second-line function requirements, including Compliance, Risk, and AML. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and experience performing Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA).

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring internal control testing is conducted effectively and efficiently in accordance with second-line function requirements, including Compliance, Risk, and AML. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and experience performing Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct internal control testing in accordance with second-line governance requirements.
- Develop and execute Design Effectiveness and Operating Effectiveness testing programs to identify gaps in internal controls and processes.
- Apply sampling methodologies in accordance with established testing guidelines.
- Perform ongoing testing of key controls across business functions.
- Analyze testing exceptions, prepare reports, and track issues through to resolution.
- Assess Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and identify opportunities to strengthen the control environment.
- Support business stakeholders in developing remediation plans to address identified control gaps and root causes.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Partner with business stakeholders to strengthen key controls and improve process documentation.
- Support ad hoc governance, risk, and control initiatives.
- Build strong working relationships across business units through effective communication and knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience (5+ years preferred).
- Hands-on experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA).
- Advanced knowledge of governance, risk, and control procedures, strategies, and practices.
- Prior experience in audit, quality control testing, risk, or compliance.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas.
- Ability to analyze data, research issues, organize work, and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience interacting with business stakeholders.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
- Experience within wholesale banking or wholesale operations.
- Operational experience in derivatives or capital markets operations.
- Experience working directly with traders and front-office teams.
- Experience using ARIS for process mapping.
- Knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
- Understanding of business operations and processes within a wholesale banking environment.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have end-to-end Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) experience.
- Be comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
- Be a strong communicator capable of interacting with multiple stakeholders.
- Thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
- Be able to quickly adapt and contribute with minimal ramp-up time.
- Possess governance, risk, audit, or compliance experience supported by strong operational knowledge.
