Job Summary:
The Fermentation Laboratory Analyst is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the fermentation process to ensure optimal yeast performance, sugar conversion, and consistency in spirit production. This role conducts microbiological and chemical analyses, troubleshoots fermentation issues, and collaborates with production teams to enhance efficiency and maintain compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Job Summary:
The Fermentation Laboratory Analyst is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the fermentation process to ensure optimal yeast performance, sugar conversion, and consistency in spirit production. This role conducts microbiological and chemical analyses, troubleshoots fermentation issues, and collaborates with production teams to enhance efficiency and maintain compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
Duities and Responsibilities:
- Perform microbiological and chemical analyses to monitor yeast health, sugar conversion, and fermentation performance.
- Collect and analyze samples throughout the fermentation process to ensure product quality.
- Identify and troubleshoot fermentation issues, recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory tests, results, and process adjustments.
- Prepare reports and communicate findings to production and quality teams.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company protocols.
- Collaborate with production teams to optimize fermentation efficiency and reduce variability.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure calibration and proper functioning.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of fermentation science, microbiology, and chemistry.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and use of analytical instruments.
- Ability to interpret data and apply findings to improve processes.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for fermentation-related issues.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in testing and documentation.
- Effective communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and safety standards.
- Computer proficiency for data entry and reporting (Excel, LIMS preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
- Experience in fermentation or laboratory analysis preferred.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.
- Laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and biological materials.
- Requires standing for extended periods and handling laboratory equipment.
- Must adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
