Position Title: Phlebotomist I
Work Location: Matthews, NC 28105
Assignment Duration: 3 Months (Potential for Extension)
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
1st week of training at the branch (5901 Northwoods Bus Pkwy. STE L.). 2nd week onsite.
Mode of interview : onsite
Summary:
The primary function of a Phlebotomist I is to perform specimen collection procedures, ensure accurate patient identification, maintain specimen integrity, and provide excellent patient care in a physician office setting. The Phlebotomist will support daily operations by collecting blood specimens, processing samples, and following all established laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
Position Responsibilities:

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on patients of all ages.

Collect, label, process, and store specimens according to established procedures.

Properly explain specimen collection procedures, including blood, urine, and other sample collections, in a professional and courteous manner.

Demonstrate proficiency using straight needles and butterfly needles.

Verify patient information and ensure accurate specimen labeling.

Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes and test orders.

Centrifuge, aliquot, package, store, and prepare specimens for transport while maintaining specimen integrity.

Follow established protocols for specimen handling, storage temperatures, and transportation requirements.

Update patient demographic and insurance information as required.

Maintain work areas and equipment, including routine cleaning and decontamination procedures.

Comply with all OSHA, HIPAA, and company safety regulations.

Assist with workflow management and support team operations as needed.

Attend required training sessions and departmental meetings.

Provide excellent customer service to patients, physicians, and staff.
Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory, physician office, or hospital setting.

Experience collecting blood specimens from patients of all ages.

Strong attention to detail and specimen handling accuracy.

Ability to stand for extended periods (4–6 hours daily).

Excellent communication and patient interaction skills.

Basic computer skills and familiarity with data entry systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
2+ years of phlebotomy experience.
-
Previous experience in a physician office or patient service center environment.

Experience processing and packaging laboratory specimens.
Additional Information:

Approximately 25+ patient draws per day.

Team-oriented work environment.
-
Two weeks of training provided based on experience level.

Required vaccinations include Hepatitis B, TB, and MMR.
